1. Not a personal testimony or a message based on the wonderful life one experiences.
I was thinking before that whenever I share my testimony on how God change my life, I have already share the Gospel to others. But I was wrong. There is nothing wrong with a testimony of what God has done in one’s life but to take it as the gospel is heresy. Because the gospel is not about our wonderful life or fantastic experiences, but it is about Jesus. It is about what Christ has done for us sinner to be saved.
2. Not ethics, values or morality (Romans 3:19-24; Phil 3:2-9;
The gospel is not “good advice” but “good news”. The exhortation of the gospel is not, “Obey the 10 commandments, the Golden Rule and the Sermon on the Mount and you will be saved” but rather it is to, “Repent from your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. (Acts 20:21; Ephesians 2:8,9; Tit 3:5).
When the Bible refers to salvation of sinners, the primary intention of the Law is to convict of sin (Romans 3:19-20) and to lead sinners to Christ (Galatians 3:24).
Romans 3:19-20 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
Galatians 3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith
