Jesus made a profound statement to Pilate, before the Jews and Pilate condemned Him to death.
Joh 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Joh 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
Joh 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
Joh 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
Joh 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Joh 10:28 And I give unto them [my sheep] eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
According to Jesus, everyone that is of the truth hears His voice, and everyone that is not, does not hear His voice.
Again, according to Jesus, every one that is His sheep will hear His voice, and those who are not His sheep do not believe, therefore they will not be able to hear His voice. He goes on to say that He gives eternal life to His sheep.
So from these verses, we come to a logical conclusion that those who are of the truth, are His sheep, will hear His voice, and have eternal life, which translates to being a born again child of God.
Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
If Jesus speaks God's word and God's word is truth, then can we conclude that those who cannot receive truth are not of God?
Joh 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
Joh 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Those who are of the devil, will do the lusts of their father, because as the spirit is in you, so are you. John 8:44 and 1 Jn 4:17, Ezek 16:44, and 2 Corith 3:18.
Therefore, those who are of their father the devil, will not be able to hear the truth, because the devil that is in them cannot receive the truth. Hence the twisting, adding, tainting, corrupting, denying, ignoring, and the like of the truths presented.
So if you cannot receive the truth of God's word when it has been, not only shown but proven, are you really a child of God or do you just think you are?
Which leads me to another question.
Which and/or how much of the truths of God's word matter and which and/or how much do not, when it comes to those who are of the truth, who are God's sheep, hearing His voice, and have eternal life?
