What do you do with your spare time? Do you plan your day well, or do you leave everything till the last minute and then rush to get things finished?
Being organised and managing our time wisely can benefit us both in the short and long term. It helps us be more relaxed and not get into a panic mode in the last minute trying to get everything done at once. Spreading our workload over few days makes the workload lighter and prevents us from getting tired and weary quickly.
Sometimes when we have a holiday or take some time off work, we tend to relax at the beginning of the holiday thinking that we will finish all our chores tomorrow, and before you know it, that tomorrow never came and you are at the end of your holiday with a big “to do” list. The Bible tells us, not to be lazy. Proverbs 6: 9 – 11 warns us about being lazy.
“How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man”.
“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied” (Proverbs 13:4).
We need to use our time wisely and also keep one day a week for rest so that we don’t wear ourselves out. The key is to have a balanced lifestyle. If you are struggling, pray today:
Lord, help me use my time wisely. Give me the wisdom to prioritize my work on a daily basis, and let my first priority be always be putting you first in everything in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
