It is a necessity for most families to have two wage earners in order to get by financially. Parents are very busy. Most cannot afford to send their children to private Christian schools. So, are we taking time to teach them about Jesus and give them a firm footing in the Christian faith? Or are we letting that responsibility fall by the wayside.

The reason I ask is because the largest religious denonination/belief of the youth in the USA and Europe is the 'NONES', no faith at all. So the question is of concern.

Yes, teach them about Our Lord Jesus Christ from their youth: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Prov 22:6).

I look back today, and I thank God for parents and grandparents who taught me to trust in God and that I could always depend on Him. I pray today that the things I taught my children and my grandchildren about God will be just as valuable.

While I am positive many parents do succeed in teaching their children, and their children do remember this in their adulthood and follow as the Bible says, most parents are flawed and teach flawed lessons in flawed ways, diluting the message, of teaching a child and he will not depart from it, quite a bit,

I was raised in church. Even when my mom didn't attend, she still put me on the church bus and made me attend. I was raised knowing about God, the good news and the consequences of sin, and for many years I still walked away and rebelled. I have faith in God and live a life that shows others the love God has shown me, but if I were to be asked what religion, denomination or faith I have, I too, would still say none, because I believe in my own ways, using the Bible and many people to teach me, listening to many forms of music, not following organized religion at all. Even my profile here says "unsure", not because I am unsure of my beliefs, but because I am unsure I am a "Christian" the same as people think of a Christian, so I just don't claim to be anything other than myself, and God loves that in me. I show people the difference and gift in Christ's sacrifice in my life has made.

God comes to and gives to each according to his own ways. (Jeremiah). My ways, experience, knowledge and understanding is different from everyone else's, so why will God come to and teach me the same way He will come to and teach others? I think we do church wrong. I think Denominations are man made and not God made, which is why none agree with each other. God will lead us, to where we need to be to learn, in HIS time, not ours, using the tools HE deems necessary for each and not what we think we need.
Oh well, that's just me. Peace!!

Great!

2 Tim 3:14 "But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

2 Tim 1:3 "I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also."

Lord Bless.

If we don't teach them, someone else most certainly will.

If we don't teach them, then the Government, media, and public schools are champing at the bit to teach them about everything; Buddhism/New Age/LGBT Movement/WOKE/Islam/Judaism/Socialism........etc...... The public schools will teach them everything that is opposed to Christianity and they will, for sure, lead them astray.

So, parents had best be teaching their children.

I agree. It was for this very reason I chose to homeschool my kids.
It is unfortunate that people have grown accustomed to dual incomes and see meeting physical needs as more important than spiritual ones for their children.

To go along with what I was saying earlier, I have 3 daughters who were not forced to go to church, I taught them how I believe, and why I believe the way I do. I showed them scripture, taught them to trust God over man, and to understand that as we learn, our choices and decisions change.

My oldest daughter moved out at 18, went away to college, went a bit wild, graduated and stayed in the area where she attended college. A month after her dad passed from cancer, she was diagnosed with cancer. She started searching for answers, and told me she was more like agnostic. She knew there was something bigger than herself out there, she just wasn't certain. I myself struggled with my faith then. I KNEW God was real, because I couldn't be this angry with a being who didn't exist, but I was ANGRY. I expressed my questions to her also, and told her I understood why she was searching, and that I couldn't say I wouldn't be questioning things more if I were in her shoes. God is a big God who can handle our questions, our anger and frustrations. I told her to keep searching earnestly, ask me any questions she wanted, and I was pretty certain she would return to God soon. She had been hurt by people in authority in her church, so asking a pastor was NOT a possibility to her, so taught her how to search the Bible for answers, and to ask many people before forming an opinion on things, so she has many directions from which to choose. She told me it truly bothered her that I was questioning my faith, because it was such a large part of her upbringing. I told her not to worry, I was only questioning God's reasonings, not whether God was real, and my faith will rebound soon (which it did).
Recently she told me that I was right, and with searching the Bible, and earnestly seeking, she found most of her answers and she was rebuilding her faith.

My middle girl is a lot like me. Don't tell her that, but the older she gets, the more I see it. I think that is why she and I can argue like no other. I was worried that she was becoming wiccan. Like me, she is into plants, and herbal remedies, and a natural lifestyle, and she has added a few things I know little about which had me perplexed and a little concerned. So I outright asked her. She told me that she finds God in nature over anyplace else. She is more at peace in nature, so they go camping and fishing and just spend as much time as possible outside, but not to worry, her belief is in God, she's just finding her own way, and using the Bible, nature and many people to answer her questions. Her soon to be husband is even her daddy's carbon copy almost, and they are a completely adorable couple. I worried about him when they first got together, because I saw the things in him that in my late husband we had to overcome. Like my late husband, he grew into his role as provider, head of the house and christian man. I don't worry about them together any longer.

My youngest is a powerhouse! Twelve years ago, we knew she was so talented and smart, that she would either take over the world or take over a prison/street gang. She used her power for good. She has always been an avid church goer, but like my oldest girl, she was hurt greatly by a church splitting, and casting away a pastor. She is still close with this pastor and his family, and he is marrying her to her fiancé next week. Like me, she didn't lose her faith in God, just in people running churches. She remained faithful to God, and even though she went through a great time of questions like the rest of us, her faith in God never waivered. She is now a paramedic, in school to gain her bachelor's in emergency management, and right now, while planning her wedding and attending her classes, she is an intern at the White House!! God has moved mountains for her, and it looks like she might be moving to DC after her internship to continue working with FEMA. FEMA has many offices across the country, so no telling where they may end up settling.

It's okay for our young people to question things, to be unsure, to not know how they believe exactly. This doesn't mean they don't believe in God, or their faith is less than other generations. This just means they are no longer trusting churches, pastors and other people as much as in the past. The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun, so this must have happened in past generations as well, it just wasn't as publicized is all.

:) I never said which denomination I was, in my profile, only that I am a Christian, and it labelled me unsure, but I will say, I'm sure you are a Christian and my sister in Christ Jesus, any denomination you would state wouldn't change that ma'am. God bless you and your family greatly

After we come of age, however, our parent's guidance alone etc will not enough. We must develop our own personal relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ, and spend time, in prayer, in reading the Word, etc, getting to know and love Him better, since, as Our Lord taught: eternal life is all about knowing and loving the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (Jn 17:3)

God Bless.

Yes, teaching all 8 (soon to be 9) of our kids about Jesus. I'm a SAH mom and while it's gotten tougher financially, it's worth it to be here for the kids. We attend a church but we also host a home church and have a nightly Bible study and the kids love AWANA, etc.

My eldest daughter reached an understanding of the difference between knowing God is there and having a relationship with him a few years back. My eldest son is very practical about God and is set in his belief. The others say they love Jesus but I don't think they've quite reached the point where they really knows what that means. So they're all at different levels, spiritually.

I know, however, that being raised in a Christian home doesn't mean none of them will walk away from Christ as I saw that happen with most of my siblings, though i pray they will stay strong and love Jesus more than anything.

If I had my own children, the very first Bible verse they would memorize would be Colossians 2:11. They would be taught, from their earliest years about the Spiritual Circumcision of Christ. There is nothing more important that we ought understand within the entire Bible than that of Spiritual Circumcision, the cutting away of the Sinful Nature.

If a person remains under the Adamic Curse, as some refer to it, they cannot be Righteous, Pure, or Holy, for they are held captive to do the will of Satan, their Spiritual Father. Therefore, to be released of this Curse should be the single most significant thing that we could ever possibly need to know. The knowing that we MUST be separated from this Curse before we enter Heaven, what could ever be more important? What is more important than receive such Grace from God so as to be released from His Curse?

Exodus 33:19 NIV - "And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."

What could be more Gracious than to be released from the Curse so that Spiritual Maturity may continue? What could be more important for us to understand than that? We can have all knowledge and all power over all things, but if Christ has not Cirumcised the heart within, Heaven isn't even consideration. So . . . there is no other condition so dire as this.

Yes, my children would know Colossians 2:9-15 from the earliest of ages. We should not be ashamed of the Most Holy Word, Circumcision. It is the very Heart of the entire Bible.

Colossians 2:11, 13 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature." ... 13 "You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins."

Yes. The Church begins at home. 100% you should. It is your duty as a Christian. Preaching the Good News to those who don't believe is one thing. But unless you sow the seed in your child, your child could go astray. In fact, if you love Jesus and believe in Him, you would not ask this question. You will show your son or daughter the way as was taught to you or as you learned it and continue to grow in that faith. Of all the things your children could inherit from you, the most important of them would be your faith in God, your faith in Our Lord Jesus. That alone would save your child or children in their future and guide them throughout their lives even if you're not there for them later on in life. So, it is your duty. Take care of them and bring them close to Our Lord Jesus. God bless you and family.

This can happen. It's a reality and it happens in Christian homes all the time. But that is the test of our faith in God. You have to be prepared for all this in your life when you start a family. And you alone are responsible for raising your children in faith and strengthening their bond with Jesus as a parent.

It is a very very sad thing when members of our family drift away hearing the words of the world. Make sure there is a personal relationship between your children and The Creator. So that they have God's blessing always and remain close to Jesus.

For me, if I let go of Jesus, I don't know where I'd be. I rely on my God every second of my life. I live my life at His Mercy and I know Jesus will take me places where I didn't think possible and will continue to show a way for me in my life.

So, that's very important that we pass our heritage to the next Generation. Jesus is that inheritance which we can give our children which can never be taken from them. Whatever happens in their lives.
