I couldn't understand a word this guy on YouTube said.

I have been fascinated with the Jewish lifestyle before they became so modernized. I've been sneered at on cc when I have said so, but their Friday nights sound so wonderful to me, I wish the church didn't consider everything they do off limits!

It starts with lighting candles as a symbol of two blessings. One candle for the blessing of the Sabbath, and one to bless the family and all the people there. They have a certain blessing, like we have the Lord's Prayer, so at sunset many households are joined in the same words to the Lord. It is a rule that these can't be said without meaning them. Then the family sits down to eat, but they are to be sure every Jew has a family place to eat on Friday night, so people traveling, people away at school, are there, so usually there is extra people. This dinner has the best foods of the week. Almost always there is singing, and each is conscious of God in their talk so making "ain't it awful" talk isn't encouraged at all. Sometime during the meal the men take time to thank and honor the women, usually including Proverbs 31. It is such an important meal to them that men who can, take time to help the women prepare, they are always vitally interested in this meal. It always lasts a long time.

This is the kind of feedback I needed.
I also enjoyed your post about the traditions. I agree with you. It takes time and effort to instatiate such traditions but I believe they are worthwhile.
Jewish traditions, yes. Traditions as a whole, somewhat.

Like Paul says, traditions used as salvation, or even used for something to complete a spiritual truth so excuse yourself from following through are just not right. But I think Friday night celebration that is a means to actual worship, kosher diet that is a reminder to us to be clean in thought word and deed, even circumcising our babies and teaching them what real circumcision is would even be OK'd by Paul. You have to know it isn't the dinner, it isn't the diet, and it isn't the circumcision God looks at, that is just to help you.

I said a bad word less than a minute in after a little girl shouting down the mic nearly made my ears bleed and I had to throw my headset off.

If you are making videos at least make the DB level constant. There is also a horrible hum

Did you throw it somewhere that it wouldn't break?

I swatted it off and landed on desk in front of me.
