Philippians 3:13 ... this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things that are before,
3:14 I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

It has been a process, a journey, learning to let go. Even after my choices were showing growth, my lamenting with regret still haunted me so. I often wonder if that kind of struggle was the thorn in Paul.

He, through Jesus and His grace, has been helping me let the tormented thoughts fly away also. Praise God for His victory and His mercy and Like 7:36-50. We are truly free to press forward.

Thanks for the encouragement through sharing these verses.

God Bless you.

We as believer-priests (we are a kingdom of priests) have free access to God to confess our sins as often as necessary and return to the filling of the Holy Spirit. We all must do this regularly to continue walking in the Spirit. But when we feel regret and a guilty conscience about past sins, we have committed another sin. Carrying a guilty conscience about one's past sins is believing you are not forgiven. Put a stop to a guilty conscience by believing what the scriptures say. I find it helpful in this circumstance to quote to myself:

"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Rom 8:1)

Christ paid for all sin. This is why, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1Jn 1:9) God's righteousness and justice were satisfied by the work of Christ.

Paul moved forward, trusting in the victory won by Christ, so can you. Don't let guilt rule your life. Fight back with truth from the word of God.

I sometimes pray that God helps me to forget things that have in the past. I had a TBI and I am recovering by the grace of God. The unfortunate thing is I get memory dumps from my mind and most of those memories aren't good. Reading verses about our past is encouraging to me. I however have deep seated anger issues with people that are supposedly close to me. It is making relationships very hard for me cause all I seem to remember of most people is the bad which makes me anxious around them. Like now I am angry with my husband over a really small thing. I'm not depressed enough to commit suicide plus I want to go to heaven. Thanks for this posting. It's very encouraging.

The only way a Child of God can press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling is by Grace (the help of the Holy Spirit) through Faith (Faith in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross where the victory was won). We must renew our minds to this daily and trust only in this (this is a act of Faith and not a act of labor). By doing so you are denying yourself (being humble), picking up your cross (receiving ALL the benefits of this resurrection life) and following Jesus. Remember, we press towards in His Faith (Jesus Christ) and not our faith. We Live by Jesus Christ Faith, His Love, His Obedience, and not ours. Gal. 2:20-21, Rom. 8:2

The Holy Spirit wanted me to repeat this more clearly:

We live by what Jesus Christ did by Grace through Faith who loved us and gave Himself for us at the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won (Rom. 6:3-5, Philippians 1:21); His Obedience (Philippians 2:8, John 10:18), His Faith (Gal. 2:20-21), and His Love (Faith works by Love -Gal. 5:6). It is not our obedience, not our faith, and not our love, that we live by (Rom. 8:2, Gal. 2:18). We are united with Christ, therefore, God doesn’t rehabilitate us, He eliminates us. The Holy Spirit moves in to give us power to live Holy that causes us to walk in the newness of life (Ezekiel 36:26-37, Romans 8:11). Only by Faith in the Blood of Jesus have we been given eyes to see (John 3:3-5) and only Faith in the Blood of Jesus will you continue be able to see and not go blind again (2 Peter 1:9).

Philippians 3:13-14
- My favorite verse..
--
In Jesus Name, we press on
In Jesus Name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on

Basically its saying think about the things of heaven more than the things of earth,
