I have had gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach) for 4 years and have recently got down to 100 pounds. Had a feeding tube placed last Friday. Doing okay. On a strict diet and essential oils and have had some improvement. When I ask Jesus to heal me or even make things tolerable I feel guilty. There are alot of people with this and why are they not healed. What I read says to believe, but my faith is wavering.

There are 7.2 billion people on earth right now, and many more that have since died. They all needed God's salvation, but most of them didn't/won't get it. Do you feel guilty about that?

To me there are two kinds of guilt -- false guilt and real guilt.

False guilt is when hubby stubs his toe on the coffee table and I tell him, "Sorry about that." Honest. I do that. I was raised by a converted Irish Catholic mother. (She converted to Catholicism, and she converted to being Irish. I'm not entirely sure how she converted to Irish, since she was an English-German American, but somehow she became more Irish than the Irish side of my family. lol) So I have guilt about lots of things that aren't sin. It's a real feeling. It's not based on anything but training, so I accept the feeling and stop worrying about how to react to it, freeing me up to worry about real guilt - when I sin.

So, okay you feel guilty for asking God to heal you. So what? It's not a sin to ask God to heal you. He actually wants us to ask for that. So, okay you feel guilty. Move on and ask anyway.

Besides, you don't know yet if he will or won't. No matter what way he goes for you, you still have to live out of Rom. 8:28, so, if anything worry about trusting God, and less about feeling guilty for something that's not sin.

Oh, and just so you know. I asked God to take away my chronic pain, caused by something that happens about as frequently as gastroparesis (not very), and he didn't. Ultimately he helped me tolerate it, but only through pain pills and trusting him. So, I really did have the other side of this. The not getting healed thing to deal with.

If, perchance God doesn't heal you, (and we don't know which way he's going yet), try When God Weeps. It answers the hard question you're still trying to avoid, "Why me, God?" And the answer isn't easy Christianese. God really has done this to you for your good and his glory, but that book taught me why. The real why. And, if God does heal you, don't read it, or you might feel bad fro getting healed. (Now that we've established we both guilt out easily. lol)

I have heard numerous christians very recently stake a "claim" on God's healing, and demand they get healed from whatever they need healing from. And I have indeed seen God heal people. On the other hand, I've known people who have consistently prayed for healing and have never gotten it. Usually in those cases God uses the illness, or handicap they have as a tool to minister to other people.

What I get in the brief post you made was that your heart is breaking for others. Why not lift them up in prayer? That God may heal them, and that they'll have God revealed to them. Don't be weighed down in discouragement but see how it can be used for Gods glory.
