Hello everyone,

Perhaps you are already familiar with my situation from the last thread I posted in the Bible Study room.

I am leaving the military as a conscientious objector because I feel that service is incompatible with Christian beliefs. By doing so, I am subjecting myself to a world of unknown consequences. I don't have a lot of savings and I am married. There are a lot of Christians who would say that God wouldn't want me to put myself and my wife in a tough situation. In fact--I have already dealt with some who have said similar things to me.

So my question is: What have you left behind to follow Jesus Christ? If He required it of you, would you be willing to give up everything today? Or would you try to reason yourself out of it?

For the good of your family, it is best you join, especially knowing that God loves a solder.

I've given up my friends, whom I loved more than my family by realizing that they were holding me back instead of encouraging me. I'd give up my life anytime of the week to God.

It's individual things I'm somewhat faltering in.

Are you saying it's best I stay in the military? If so, what is your justification?

It's good you've given up hanging with bad influences. I lost many friends when I converted and more and more as I matured as a Christian.

Brother I was a Marine in the 80's and I want to lay out some things I gave up for Jesus

1. As a Machinist I had numerous opportunities to be a maintenance machinist for Remington Arms, yet refused the job three times because they wanted me to work a shift that would have kept me out of church. The job paid almost three times what I was making, yet in one year was making about 5000 a year more than if I had taken the job at Remington.

2. I have given up family and friends only to gain 100 fold more in brothers and sisters in Christ.

God will always bless you when you do what is right and in accordance with his will...May the Lord bless you and your family as you endeavor to work within the ranks of God's will.
