Sex most certainly is an addiction. Especially if you can't stop doing it. (no pun intended, lol). ANYTHING can be an addiction if you cannot stop yourself from doing it. Whether it be sex, porn, gluttony, etc..
Yes, I suppose an addiction can be anything you can't or won't stop doing. But I also think people use the word (addiction) as a viable excuse, i.e; Its not his fault, he's addicted to sex so he sleeps around. When you turn infidelity into a disease or addiction, your enabling and justifying the action. Kind of like someone who robs banks saying; 'Can't help it babe, I'm a kleptomaniac, so its not my fault'.
