My couples small group has given us a project to come up with a vision statement for our families. I’ve got a few resources to look at but I’d also like to hear from you men who are leading your family and marriages well. Do you have a mission statement for your family? What is your vision statement for your family and what are the reflecting questions you as a man and leader of your home had to ask yourself to begin to put one together that you feel wholeheartedly vested in? You’re talking to a man who was very passive in the past and at times still is. Passivity is where I’m very weak in relationships. In the past I would have left this type of critical thinking to my wife and I’m in process of correcting my passivity . I want to add valuable input that I can say “yes I contributed to and agree to this vision statement wholeheartedly.” Would love for you to share Any thoughts or reflective questions that helped you. Thanks

My mission is to take care of my wife and family.
This ^ right here.

But why do we need a "vision statement" for the family anyway? What kind of corporate talk is this? :D
Just love God and family and honor these things until the end.

I think, and this was just my understanding. I could be completely mistaken. But the vision statement is a dream of what we desire big picture for our families. How we envision a life of purpose and impact for the Kingdom as a family.

Mission is the how we move towards making the vision a reality. I think they are getting at that it’s not enough to say we love God and family. The mission gives focus to how we actively go about loving God and our families pointing towards the vision.

Churches love "gimicks" for some reason. Some work, most don't.
