So once a month my rambunctious 7 year old niece comes to stay for the weekend. The time she spends with us is the only exposure she gets to God's love. I take her to church every time she comes and share bible stories with her when she is here. Is there anything more I can do to make Christ apart of her life/ encourage her to want Christ in her life? Any fun child friendly ideas to draw her to Him?

Well if you want her to get into the bible there are some amazing books called the almighty bible series. It has amazing pictures and the bible words as well. I have a few of them, i have acts, luke, judges and one more but i cannot remember. You can only buy them online but they are so worth it, its much easier to understand and the pictures make it fun too:]

That's a great idea. Yeah I mostly only have "grown-up" bibles at home so I'll look into those. But how do you make it real for them? She tends to think anything in a book is make believe (although she swears Santa and the Easter Bunny are real...)

Well it is the word of god after all, if you tell her Jesus is real and that everything in the bible is true and happened that should do it. Plus if she personally gets to know god through those books that would be fantastic too. Like is said it's the word of god, so i am sure he will do his part:]

Thank you. That is very encouraging. This has been something that I've stressed about for a long time, but I'll start there and let God lead the rest of the way.

We pray and praise God in front of our children all the time. They see men and women pouring their hearts out to God all the time - and perceive it as the normal thing that adults do.

I think that is beautiful. That was how I was raised. Leading by example is so much more effective than words (not that words can't be powerful).

Hi, Is it at all possible to get her parents involved. That would be ideal, however I understand if they don't want to hear it. Sometimes when we try to teach God's word to a child in your family the parents begin to rebell against it and it ruins it for the child. I seen this happen in my very good friend's niece. God's word never goes void so you can depend on that. I agree with books, age approprate movies and pray , pray, pray. We have an enemy out there who does not want this child to know the Lord. ANd yes continue to be an example. it is encouraging to me to hear how concerned you are for your niece. Be encouraged, stay focused and the Lord will help you teach her. I will pray for her parents to receive the Lord and become a part of his family. I will pray for you , for His strength and for your niece , that nothing will distract her from God's word. kThat He will give her the desire to learn and grow so she can be a witness to her parents. Are you willing to let me know her name.

When children visit me whom have no or less knowledge of God I like to put on a christian cd with songs for children, and I do sometimes creative things that has as theme faith. Like making a heart of paper and decorating it and explaining that God likes to live our hearts. Or a dove and I explain it is a picture of the Holy Spirit. I lay down biblical coloring-pages they can pick. When they love music I teach them a simple song. I can use a dvd with a biblical story if its rainy. I pick a bible with a lot of picture to read to them. I pray a simple prayer with words kids can understand. My experience is that it is often the interaction between me and the child that makes children think about it. I try to use the name of God a lot, like when looking for insects outside I say "oh how God did make this wonderful". I ask them questions. Where do you think God is? When they say no idea I explain it. When they visit me quickly after it I do talk about different things or just let them color and after a while I ask them again. (Not in a pushy way, just while we are doing things) There are lots of websites with creative christian things, like making mobiles, coloring, baking, all kind of stuff.

music. my kids love music and if you have a collection of Bible songs and kids songs about God playing in the background, it won't be long before the kids are singing along to the music and/or dancing. at least my kids love doing it.

sometimes other churches will have puppet shows and other fun kids programs that they open to the whole community and Vacation Bible school is always fun if you have her for a week in the summer.

First Read to her from the Book of Genesis all of chapter 1 and chaptor 2 to the 10th verse, then verses 18 to 25. Then chapter 3 verses 1 to 21, then go to the Book of Malachi 3:1 to 3, 10 to 12. Then Matthew Chapter 1:18, chapter 2:1,2..Then chapters 4 to the last chapter. Explain to her as much as you can. Then tell her that she is also a child of the King and that, GOD our Spiritual Father wants her and all that knows in their heart that Jesus is His only Begotten Son that died on the cross for all of us, that we may be saved from the Judgement of God, Jesus is our Lord and Saviour and we will Live again in His Kingdom with Him when all else that do not live by God's Word and His Holy Commandments or do not try to live proper christian lives and repent of their sins, will be lost, they will be cast away into outer darkness where there will be unending weeping and missery. We must know in our hearts that we are not alone at all times, that we who have accepted Christ as our Lord is looked after as it says in Psalm 91. Is it good for her to memorise Psalm 23 and Psalm 1. and as much of 91 as possible.

Dude, she's 7. She needs to be introduced to him more gradually than that.

Children are the easiest to learn and find Christ than anyone. That is why Jesus says, come unto me as little children, for they will enherit the Kingdom of heaven. And the reason being is their hearts are not hardend and their eyes are not blinded to things like adults are. They are open to the greatest possiblilities of all things... They trust completelyand openly.

The problem is for adults as we try too hard to presuade children into things thinking its a hard thing, when its not. Its at these times, we can push them away...We think its us who do all the work like WE are the ones leading the way and its really God who should be doing so.. God is the one who leads all to Him as He draws all people to Himself and this includes children as well..

He does use people to help others and give words and instructions on how to do things, but many times, we put more effort and emphasis in the instructions and the how too's trying to make the layout for another to unfold, so much so, that we loose the reason of why we are doing it and this needs to be our main focus... The reason is love...
If we keep Jesus as our main focus,, we cant go wrong as His love, mercy and grace in simplicity that goes with it is all we need.

For i have seen many come to Christ who are seeking with a simple word, for in the end, it was knowing that the great Creator called them and made themself known to their heart and showed Himself as their Father and His love was made known to them... This is really all people want to know,, especially children. To be loved and cherished...i have told many bible stores to kids,, had them draw pictures as i taked,, or got bibles with pictures.

There are many kids bibles in many stores all over too, or just verbally speak to them the word in a childs understanding...We dont have to hype up or fancy up the Word of God in order for children to listen or partake when they are already interestest... Gods word doesnt have to be fancy in order for kids to know him... God is already special enough isnt He? Let your heart speak!

The child will see that as the Holy Spirit guides them to Him and like any of us who come to the Father, we too fell in love with Him..they will too..

Always be talking about Jesus to each other and to your house guests. She will pick it up.
