Am I the only one who thinks that some of the ads go too far sexually and sensualy? We didn't watch the superbowl this year. I heard the halftime show was a bit over the top, and I saw some of the ads to be played. I wrote and wrote CBS continually to ask them to keep it family friendly, but i can see they didn't. Saddens me.

I was disappointed in the halftime show but only because when I think greatest football game of the year...beyonce is not something that pops into my head. I don't remember any specific commercials that came across as terribly risque though.

Its all idolitry, those who profess Christ, and have no problems watching and supporting this American idolotry should be ashamed of themselves!

Its way more than the ads, its the whole sports and tv agenda, its godless, immoral, and any parent who lets thier children watch most things on TV, especially sports, which is glorfied adultery against God, should also be ashamed!

But to most who profess Christ purity and seperation is thrown out the window because of thier saved IN sin, liberal doctrines they cling to. They think they have liberty in Christ to watch this mind garbage, then make excuses why they can, they also feel they can fellowship with the works of darkness, and still be in the will of God!

But most who profess Christ today do not believe the word of God, such as repent, obey, stop sinning, depart from iniquity, that which man highly esteems is an abomination to God, set no evil before your eyes, be transformed by the renewing of your mind, love NOT the world, DO NOt share in the sins of others, keep yourself pure and undefiled from the world, etc, many, many more warnings if you care to check them out!

Eph 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Eph 5:12
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
Eph 5:13
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Eph 5:14
Therefore he says, "Awake, sleeping ones! And arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

Repent of these vain attractions, its good to see a few who see through the darkness and atleast these things are bothering them, its a narrow road, few will find, so repent, and come out from among those of the world who put this evil in thier minds, get into the word, dig deep, you will be glad you did.

An amazing observation, is that when someone who doesn't like how they dressed or performed comments their opinion such a person, they almost get crucified. Just an interesting observation and if you aren't bothered by other people calling you names and telling you you're wrong, you can try it.

Well, I wrote tons of emails to CBS giving my thoughts on the ads and halftime show..asking them to keep them clean. Sadly the emails got no response and did no good. We live in a world of sin. Sigh....

TV stations hardly care about keeping things family friendly anymore. ABC Family has shows that are not family friendly. I've even even been shocked at some things that the Disney channel has put out. Not necessarily entire shows, but some elements or lines in their shows that I thought were completely uncalled for.

They do those sexual/sensual ads because it catches attention and they know it sells.

I was okay with the choice of Beyonce simply because she can actually sing. She doesn't have to have her voice autotuned beyond recognition. Her performance, on the other hand...I guess it's not possible to have a concert anymore that showcases your talent rather than your body and how much you can roll around on stage.

I'm opposed to how often they give you a shot of a player's butt, zoomed way in. Who is filming these shots?!

I thought Beyoncé's routine was over the top, but then I might be kind of out of the loop when it come to these things because I don't get involved with that. My husband was surprised by some of the "dance moves" which were quite suggestive. I don't think any of it was appropriate.

I used to love watching the Superbowl with my dad. It was one of the very few fun things I remember doing with him, but now the Super Bowl is simply disturbing. What happened to the Budweiser frogs? What happened to silly commercials? What happened to appropriate television? It's sad. It's incredibly uncomfortable. As a woman, I find it eternal disturbing sitting in a room full of guys whooping and hollering at the girls on commercials. It's makes us feel like objects. Now, it's just as bad as my female friend doing the same for Dwayne Johnson. Sure he's hot, but I'm not going stand up and scream, feign fainting, and wipe the sweat off my brow because he takes his shirts off. It's just disrespectful no matter which gender it comes from. I get it. Women don't quite have the same sexual wiring as men, but its still objectification if you're making a fuss over someone's looks. I want to crawl away and hide when this behavior occurs. I mean, come on. That's someone's child, grandchild, brother or sister, and we're at them like we're trying wrangle them and make them into steaks.
What happened to people being people first? Its honorable to treat a woman or man as valuable when she selling herself or himself short. This requires you to leave the room, turn your head, turn the channel, or simply refuse to involve yourself in the objectification of God's creation.

I want to say something but don't want to be mistaken. I didn't watch the halftime show, could care in the least. I really didn't pay attention to the commercials much. Except one, the Paul Harvey Dodge Ram one. God was mentioned 9 times in that commercial and as the creator. I can't and won't argue with anyone about the filth that is on tv. But, As for calling watching the game idolotry, I have to question it. I don't follow sports enough to tell you states or even most of the player names. But I do enjoy watching the game for the game. Not because of who's playing. Yes, I like the Steelers and Buccaneers and will cheer them on. They're just teams I like. Personally, I enjoy NASCAR more. There are way more Christians in that sport than I see in any other. But, I don't idolize them. I watch for the thrill of the race. If I miss a race, so what. If I miss a football, hockey, baseball or other game. So what. Should I be or feel condemned for watching them. No. If I'm watching with my kids do I take the opportunity to share with them what is wrong about what's on tv, Yes. Do I prevent my kids from watching certain shows. Yes. I don't think there is anything wrong with watching the game for the game. True, Most of the NASCAR races are on Sunday. But I will not miss church for a race. Unless I'm actually at the race. But even there, there are church services held in the infield. Can you say that about football, basketball, soccer or other sports. Not really.

So, although I agree that for some it have become idolotry, I don't agree with Tommy4Christs' comment,

"Its all idolitry, those who profess Christ, and have no problems watching and supporting this American idolotry should be ashamed of themselves!"

I dont' have a Problem watching them. Because I know why I'm watching. I know who my God is and he isn't in a car going 200 mph(or faster), or on the football field.

I hope that made sense and if you want to yell at me, go ahead, I'm a big boy and can handle it. If I need correcting, I'll take it.

Love to ya'll and God Bless,
JP

Scary part is that in my personal experience, and what I mean by that is that what I have personally noticed is, is that there are way more Male cameramen than women. So the guys are zooming in on those butts. Doing what they're told to do of course. Still doesn't make it right. Just pointing out what I've noticed. I'm not talking about photographers, but the men who stand behind the big cameras. There are a lot of women photographers as well as men.

Justme, I love football. I don't believe it has to be an idol. Certainly anything can be one, but that's on the heart of the person and not the activity.
I did watch a commercial which was aimed at being inspirational and patriotic... But it really wasn't biblical. I remember joking with my pastor since I was at his house. "Those quotes are extra-biblical, right?"

I must say, some do take it to the point of idolatry. I live in Wisconsin and I seen how some of the Packer fans are. You ask them why they wouldn't go to church on Sunday..? Yet, get up early morning Sunday in there sunday Packers best, to watch a Packer game. Tailgating! Some would say, its to early to get up to go to church. And they would defend their team as if they were their God. Almost like some of us try to speak up for Jesus...lol

This is true... Little known fact: Aaron Rodgers was in my youth group and graduated right after me.
