Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

To trust even when you do not understand is such a battle that takes moment-by-moment surrender. The lessons from previous years and especially this year have been learned through discipline and so many moments this year Satan has used his tactics of lying to cause anxiety or to destroy motivation but each time it was surrendering to God and trusting in His way that brought clarity.

Sometimes it can feel like reading the story of Moses and the Israelites facing a huge body of water trapped between the mountains and Pharaoh's army. From their perspective, there was no way but to either drown, surrender to Pharaoh, fight/die, or try to pass through the mountains and surely be caught and punished.

The best part is, that God led them to a place that required a choice. To surrender to God or surrender to the world. Moses was a great leader not without mistakes but he at this moment in time knew he must wait on the Lord. By his obedience and the power of God, God created a path for a whole nation of people.

Whether it be you the individual, a family, a church, or a whole nation, God can work in the obedience of the few. God can provide a way forward when we see no other way.

Obedience begins at surrender. Surrender your fears, doubts, pain, and anything that distracts you from Him. Obedience through surrender leads to freedom in Christ. A freedom as we live aided by the Holy Spirit, we step into the fruit of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Be fruitful and live by trusting in God.

When things make absolutely no sense, and have been going on for what seems to be entirely too long, combined with God's silence, it is easy to get discouraged and frustrated with Him.

I am battling now to trust, even though in part I feel abandoned. Yes, I know He promises to not abandon us, but my senses detect nothing else. Hence, the battling.

I do also think about the Jews and the Red Sea / Egyptian military, and what they must've thought. All of a sudden, the impossible happens. But -- there's always that conjunction -- there seems to be no light at the end of this tunnel. I just want to retire from work, from life, and run somewhere.

Tonight, when I pray, I will ask for God's forgiveness for the grumbling, and try again.

I just want it all to stop.

I've noticed a change in you. Learning to wait on the Lord was probably the most difficult thing for me in my Christian walk. Learning to be content with the choices God makes for my life is probably a close second. I have seen God work in both of these ways in your life. Be encouraged...God is much with you.

Through your trusting, that is obedience in surrendering to Him. I would also say take the grumblings to God. Work it out together.

Absolutely I do that. I am very open with my feelings to God.

Thank you... but there comes a point where you need God to pull that heavy hand back and let you have some normalcy back in your life. These deserts have been going on for years, and at 59, with my best years behind me, do I have anything to look forward to for the remainder of my days? It doesn't seem so. Hence the desire to just run from everything, and have some kind of hope that I'll ever have a life worth getting up for every day.

Job's last days were very enjoyable. I believe yours will too. God will eventually pull back.
