I'm just wondering if tomboys (children as well as adult tomboys)tend to get into more trouble than more homely girls.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Why would tomboy be the opposite of homely? I didn't realize the two were connected.

It's a perfectly valid question, thank-you kindly.

Hi Mooky. I'm assuming your use of the word 'homely' is a way of saying a girl who is more content to stay at home and play quietly and perhaps help mom bake, etc. -- the way "homely' is most often used these days refers to having a plain or unattractive appearance.

So - if I'm right about what you want the word "homely' to say - I will tell you that my daughter (almost 11) is somewhat of a 'tomboy' - She enjoys the outdoors, isn't terribly concerned about her appearance, isn't the least interested in helping me in the kitchen. She is also one of the children (thank God) that every single teacher she's had has praised her for her kind heart, her quick mind, her even quicker wit. She is almost never 'in trouble' even though she seriously thinks "outside the box" and has a mind that could tend to mischief without much work at all.
I hope that was helpful. I'm curious why you asked. Would enjoy talking more with you if you'd like :)
