What Is Your Mission Field

For example:

For me I am 28, married, father of 3 kids. So as a Christian I am a disciple of Christ first and under that authority my marriage a covenant marriage and my children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

I have been blessed and gifted 5 great responsibilities so my mission field is mainly in 2 places. My home and my place of employment. My job I have been blessed to help others have a better day in often times toxic environments and often get to share my faith. At home my wife and I can be refined in the Biblical teachings on marriage and as a parent I have the opportunity teach and prepare my children for a world I fear they will need to be even stronger than me or past generations with standing for God.

This is where I am trying to produce fruit, my season of time is this and this season will only last so long before my circle of influence changes. Jobs change, kids move out, opportunities arise, seasons change and finding the mission field in each season is the key to understanding God's will and the direction He has guided you.

In the end, hoping others will hear much of Jesus outside of work or at home with whoever my wife speaks to or future generations that my kids can influence.

My mission field? I was thinking of all the places Ive worked in and how far reaching it is, well Im a librarian and have worked in many libraries, currently a primary school library in my neighbourhood and we have about 400 children, who call me mother.
Before that I taught and helped out with Bible in local primary schools that mission field is across the country in all state schools that will allow them in. Each teacher volunteers at 2 or more schools during the week.

So mostly its to children and its simply to shine your light and love them. Children are relatively easy to reach as they respond to love and care.

However ive had other kinds of jobs although the mission is rather different, I worked in retirement villages and rest homes some had 400 or more residents and did gardening there. I tell you some older gardeners are quite hardened and resistant to Christ, many use industrial strnegth weedkillers and have no idea how much damage they inflict upon creation so my way of educating them is through radio and being a good example. Some of them do have christian services but the local churches band together to reach out to them. Often many are lonely and nobody comes to visit them even though they live with all other old people they are glad to see a younger face. But many can be cranky as!

Another mission I helped out in was community meal. I dont help out anymore as got busy but we would get many homeless people on a friday. In my community theres sadly pockets of poverty. A lot of people come from broken homes. The city in general is multicultural we get all kinds of people from every nation. Which is good cos the different kinds of food you can taste is so good. Yesterday I had an ethiopian meal for lunch!

If i lived in a different area, like maybe in a rural area or any other town I would probably not meet such diversity. When I did some mission training basically the teachers said you dont need to go anywhere the world is coming to you. And its true. If you are blessed to own a home you can open it to travelers or operate a homestay and people can come and experience what its like to live with christians. Its how a lot of people get exposed to the gospel.

A few of my friends are involved with english second language classes. i also trained as an esol teacher, most of the people doing these classes are chinese. Its a way of reaching out to people. I had russians and arabians in one class i did. Most of my classmates were chinese, and while im technically chinese ancestry I speak english. My mum did her best but her children we didnt end up being truly bilingual and no I cant read chinese. We just werent schooled in it. The school im in has a bilingual unit in maori. I actually know more maori than chinese. Both languages have interesting words and ways of speaking. But thing about english is it can absorb all other languages its not exlclusive the way some languages can be like French, who frown on people speaking NOT french.

Thing is through reading and books and especially the Bible, you can potentially reach people anywhere. Ive given so many bibles away. We put up pop up libraries around the community and I try to put christian books and bibles in there. Ive done church libraries in some churches that didnt even have Bibles. Its just getting the Word out. Online you just talk about Jesus whenever God gives you the opportunity. Who knows who you may reach.

I think why God hasnt had me start my own family is because Hes placed me in his wider family. 400 children (or 400 elderly folks garden) is a lot more to look after than just say 3 kids of your own but its a different kind of caring and a lot more focused on certain needs. I need to keep track of names better I think and write them down. I pray for everyone I meet not just my own immediate family. I think they get more prayers than my mum and dad do! When i worked in public libraries they did have christian prayer group for local govt councillors I hope they still have that going workplace prayer and fellowship something that needs to happen more. you might not think its anything but God wants to be involved in everything you do.

My mission field is wherever I am. I work in a shop on my own property, so I don't get out much. I make my mission here. Working with a local church with a food table, I teach people how to fish in a manner. I grow an abundance of produce every year, so while I donate my excess produce and eggs from my chickens, I also save the seeds, and produce flyers on how to grow, save seeds, and ultimately how to feed a family. I also offer flyers on how to can, freeze and dry produce without a bunch of extra equipment, just using pots and pans and the oven or freezer. I try to make things as inexpensive and easy as possible to ensure as many people in need can do this as possible. That's my main mission. Is this what you meant by a mission?

I'm sure there are other missions in my life, and I succeed in some and fail miserably in others.

That is exactly what I meant. I wanted to show that a mission isnt always achieved in foriegn countries or that someone has to wait to be called. We are all called as we are going. A lot of us are in seasons and circumstances where our missions or response isn't the typical idea that comes to mind when you think of mission.

I wanted to see the many different ways people are responding and evangelizing.
