I lied to my pastors wife. I know lying is a sin and im not trying to justify it, but i told her a white lie. I got a speeding ticket not too long ago. When my pastors wife was talking with me about it. I told her the samething i did the cop. That was speeding because i was running late. Actually i wasnt running late but was early. Thats why i wqs speeding because i was purposely trying to be early. So even though noone is harmed in this lie. Iv done pled gulity and done my driving school for the ticket, but do i need to go tell my pastors wife the truth?

IMO, there really was no reason at all to lie to the cop OR your pastor's wife. "No one is harmed in this lie"? I disagree with that statement. YOUR reputation is harmed, and the pastor's wife may not see you as honest or trustworthy anymore. Plus she will probably be hurt that you lied to her over something so petty. So YES, you need to tell her the truth. I'm pretty sure you've probably heard the saying that "honesty is always the best policy". That is absolutely true. :)

First, you shouldn't have been driving so fast, probably. Second, it wasn't a huge deal, so you might just as well have told everybody the truth. I would say learn from your mistake(s) and move on.

there is NO such thing as a 'white-lie', a lie is a lie, no matter how we try to make it make us
feel a 'little bit better' about our deceit...against betraying our Saviour first and then others...

for myself, I always refer back to the scripture, 'confess your faults one to another', which
can of course have many diverse categories, but what you have done has been done only
for selfish reasons and has to be repented of and forgiven. but we agree with the others, when
you have an open opportunity to go to someone that you have deceived, put all pride and
self-consciousness aside and go with God and confess, for the Truth will set you free and will
also give you a new and stronger courage to fess up when you do wrong again before your
complete 'over-coming' of said sin...
it will help you to come to know the true meaning of repentance without the worldly guilt and will
show you the true Power of Jesus and His Holy ways that He requires of us in our walk for Him...

Imo, you didn't lie... If it was your intention to get there early, then you were speeding to avoid being late at arriving early.

Someone always gets hurt when one lies....just because you can't see the hurt yet, doesn't mean it's not there.

I would do. And it seems to me you know it. Confess it is the best way!
