Why do we celebrate Christmass ?
Is it because Jesus was born and came to earth in human or do we because we like to eat fancy and open up presents ?
Does it say in the bible to celebrate the birth of Jesus ? Does Jesus wants us to celebrate Christmass ?
Isnt the most important day, the day that Jesus Christ died for our sins ?

Just some questions to ask yourself.

If you have spare time left, try to awnser this one : Why do people put tree's in their houses on the so called day that Jesus Christ was born ?

It's nice to rethink that Jesus was born and came to earth with a mission, go to church and listen to the story of Jesus's birt. But Christmass is all old traditions, and people do them without actually knowing what they are doing. Why on earth would you put a tree in your house ? If you have time try to look it up, and you'll discover the pagan history behind it, and yes, even presents have a pagan history.
I know that this may sound weird to you all and maybe even shocking, but the world isn't as innocent as it seems. It would be an easy journey if it wasn't.

So, Christmass is not a day that you HAVE to celebrate as a Christian. It's not bad to do so, but I advice you to not celebrate Christmass the earthly way. Thank Jesus for what he did for you.

Happy Holidays,

David

Why would a Christian single out ONE day of the year to celebrate his birth? Shouldn't we celebrate his birth and death every day?

Have you looked up how December 25 was made a religous holiday? It was to prevent early Christians from participating in pagan celebrations. There may be similarities, but Christians do not put their tree up with ornaments on it in honor of a pagan belief.

Thanks for your input.

What I mean is, who cares how someone celebrates Christmas?

I don't put a Christmas tree in my house because I was reading some pagan tradition manual and thought it would be an awesome way to upset (edited) God. I put it in my house because it's a part of my family tradition.

Who cares?

Why shouldn't we celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ??? All we don't is when Jesus Christ was born... and I don't think we'll ever know, if we don't already know by now... But about the Christmas tree... If any of you didn't know the story of how that goes... Here it is!!!

On the night of the Christ Child's birth, all living creatures, both flora and fauna,
traveled to Bethlehem bearing gifts. The Olive tree, for example, brought its fruit
and the Palm tree its dates. But the little Fir tree had no gift and was so tired that
it was unable to resist when the larger trees pushed it into the background and hid it
from view. But then, a nearby Angel took pity and commanded a cluster of stars to
descend and rest upon its delicate boughs. When the Baby Jesus beheld this lovely
lighted tree, he smiled and blessed it, declaring henceforth that Fir trees should
always be filled with lights at Christmastime to please little children.

When Christianity first came to Northern Europe, three personages representing virtues
were dispatched from Heaven to place lights on the original Christmas tree. These
personages were Faith, Hope and Charity. Their search was long, since they were
required to find a tree as high as hope, as great as love and as sweet as charity.
In addition, the tree had to bear the sign of the cross on every bough. Their search
finally ended in the forests of the North where they found the Fir. Lit by the
radiance of the stars, it became the first Christmas tree. The triangular design of the Fir has also been usedto describe the Holy Trinity of God
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Eventually, converts began to revere the Fir as God's
Tree...as they had once revered the Oak. By the Twelfth Century it was being hung,
upside-down, from ceilings at Christmastime in Central Europe, as a
symbol of Christianity.

God looks to the heart

I celebreate Christmas the way I do first and foremost to spend the day with my family , many of whom I don't see much other times of year because people work, study and travel and meeting up can be difficult. At Christmas all have time for each other and we can enjoy the peace of the holidays.

As a Christian from a non-Christian family, what you are saying David has a special poignancy.

Christmas has a special place in my spiritual life as if ever I feel weary of doing things for others I remember love easily through the spirit of generosity and being God-blessed that is abroad at Christmas.

I don't think the family I derive from thinks of Christmas in this way, some having a weak relationship with God.

Still, we always live our Christian life out amongst doubters and unbelievers anyway, don't we.

Wow I never realized that. Very interesting!! ( I mean about the birthday being a different day as the new year. I know the year is based on Christ's birth)

Oh now that I think about it, I think the date January 1st is tied to the moon's cycle.

Alright, then as long as they were just going to pick a random date to celebrate Jesus's bday, why not just choose January 1st to begin with.

(I'm aware of the pagan holidays that took place on dec. 25 and march 25. I have a basic knowledge of the history. And frankly, I love having xmas and new years. The more holidays the better...but I'm just pointing out how it's a bit redundant to have 2 dates that mean the same thing but that arent really celebrated as such? It's a little confusing)

Well the tree is paganism, and they use the tree to represent Eve eating the fruit. They will also have a feast and open presents around the tree on the 24th not the 25 th.

24 th is 7 days until new year, I am not sure if that means something to them!

We are all grateful for Jesus every day of the year. If we drop all the paganism and take advantage of the 25th to celebrate his birth,( if it is the actual day or not we cannot be certain) But if our heart is clear that we make it a special day to remember his birth then that is fine.
The problem is that we follow customs without knowing the meaning of them.

Bottom line is we can take advantage of the day to remember how important his Birth was for us. Then same at Easter, on how important his death and Resurrection was for us.

People have different beliefs, but Jesus told us he is the only way.

Irrelevant. My question had nothing to do with pagans or the "factual" birth of jesus, or even whether or not christianity is real. Forget any and all religious thoughts when contemplating this, lest it has some sort of religious reason that there are two New Years.

Our calendar is in some way compromised of years since Jesus's birth. Therefore Xmas = New Years.
