The problem with these old hymns is that if you want to reach the unchurched and unsaved youth these songs aren't going to do it. They need to be made new again, as many artists have done, these hymns do have a place in the church but new artists need to be introduced as well. The content of the songs is important but God can use anyone to his benefit, even the wicked .

Why not write a new song unto the Lord... you know, one that agrees with scripture.

Oh that's right, many musicians don't want to do that cause it might offend someone... so they copy the world and try to be like them and write songs that never mentions Jesus, or the Cross of Calvary, or the Blood.

while i agree 100% with the importance ((& primacy)) of theologically sound lyricism . . .

why not open your eyes to the fact that the Spirit is working in many believing musicians who are writing spiritual songs and hymns that completely jive with scripture, and rejoice in that, instead of being all hung up on the instrumentation and the fact that the world does what the world does?

Because eventually someone will come around and say "it doesn't matter what the lyrics say, they are playing the devils instrument and all who listen to it are doomed"

Oh yeah... I stay awake days at a time totally worried about those claiming to be Christian who are all caught up in ungodly secular music claiming it's all good providing an example to other Christians that it's OK to be worldly and enjoy the world's darkness

Actually, I don't "care" (worry, fear, stress) what others do or don't do... this is simply a talkboard where people post what thru think and believe.

One reason why so many Christians fail to get Godly counsel is because they are so busy following the ways of the world, so I'm simply throwing out some food for thought... people can accept it or reject it, I don't "care" either way since people are going to do what they want to do anyway.

Those that value and cherish their relationship with the Lord will do music that the Lord enjoys... those that walk in sloppy agape will do what they want and suffer the consequences later cause what we sow is what we reap, if we so to the flesh we shall of the flesh reap corruption (Gal 6:7,8)

In the end, we'll see how secular music is not a part of God's Kingdom.

Could you show me the bible verse that tells me to only listen to the music Whassup agrees with please?

The closest I get to music advice in the bible is this:

150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Dunno about you, but that sounds quite noisy to me

Music in itself is NOT demonic. It is the nature of the lyrics that make it demonic in nature or not. Just because YOU disapprove of secular music, does NOT mean that we do also. So stop acting holier than thou, and stop being so condescending.. God invented music, so I'm pretty sure he's okay with us listening to it, and using our discernment and common sense as to whether it is demonic or not.

That's just what you think... instrumental music produced by a satanist will bring demons to your door... cause it's inspired by demons.

Learn your colors, "brutha bro man". Wwjd_kilden is a woman, not a "brutha". Pink nicks are female, and blue nicks are male. The nicks for trolls should be green..lol.. And with your self-righteous attitude, you won't be here very long..

That is absolute rubbish. Music is NOT created by demons. Even if who produces it is a satanist. GOD created music. Here is the quote from wwjd's post:

Now, who do you think created instrumental music? That's right, God did.

Jesus does NOT make people SELF-righteous. You're a little deluded in that way of thinking.

You didn't say that. I never said that you said that. I SAID that Jesus does not make people SELF-righteous. Our righteousness is in HIM, not ourselves. You've appointed yourself as God's personal mouthpiece on how he views music. It's not nice to try and speak for God.. tsk tsk.. lol

Knock they selfs out... sow to the flesh by soaking in this world's wisdom and ways thru their music.

It's no problem for me...
