Some Classical music is explicitly Christian (Bach's cantatas), some of it is neutral. And some of it does not come from a Christian world view at all. Just like many other styles of music. I thought it would be fun to see how many like Classical music. I listen to Jazz and some other things, too.

I'm eclectic (have a love of all genres).

Actually, along those lines...some of the 'new age' classical is very intriguing to me these days. This idea is something like film scores and such composers as Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Immediate Music, and many others... The music today seems to be some of the best there's been as far as evoking emotions and inspiring the listener.

I didn't like it at first as it sounded tinkly and boring.
Until I was trained on it in classical violin and standup-bass for years.
After the first year I gained the appreciation that some of the composers are such musically enlightened geniuses that much of their inspiration must have been divine... straight from God.
The experience of placing that music into your mind and heart for having performed it until it becomes a part of you takes on a different level and meaning for myself than listening ever could.
I'm thankful for having learned the discipline of classical first in order to understand how music that sends a message without words, elevating the listener to experience what the composer may have been feeling at the time it was written, is quite amazing to me.

The only thing SPECIFICALLY christian about Bach cantatas is their lyrics, in that sense they're no different from other christian music. Bach even used the music of his sacred cantatas in secular cantatas (and/or vice versa).

Take for instance this secular cantata (for the birthday of Maria Josepha, Queen of Poland and Electress of Saxony, Dec. 8, 1733); its music was reused in one of the cantatas of the 'Christmas Oratorio' ('Jauchzet, Frohlocket,' Dec. 25, 1734).

Greetings INTJer. I also enjoy classical music (particularly that of Johann Bach). I had put together a couple of YouTube videos using his works (not performed by me, of course, but performed by others). I will post one here below.

For this video I used Bach's piece "Sonata for Violin and Harpsichord No. 3" played on the piano by Richard Capp and on the violin by Mela Tenebaum.

For the video's background I used 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Wonderful music...
except for the tempo, the pitch, the instruments used and the romantic style of playing. ;)

I see a lot of Bach lovers here! Of course, I admire his music a great deal -- what a genius! But, to be honest, I love the big, emotional, passionate sound of the Romantic Era. It's unfortunately out of vogue at this moment, but I love Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Verdi, etc.

I probably have the most of Tchaikovsky's music, but I also love Ravel, Bizet, Rimsky-Korsakov, and others. I also like more modern stuff like Zimmer, and the way The Piano Guys perform recent pieces in the classical style.

But I also like rock, hymns, a little country, and pretty much every style of music except rap and techno.

Zimmer is good for movie battles and video games, but that's about it.

Before there was ever such a thing as a "chill pill", there was classical music. *lol* Classical music is perfect when you just want to relax and chill out. :)

Vivaldi is my personal fav.
