I'm going to go with Project 86 despite being part hard rock/part metal. Early on, at Vanguard, when they successfully made the transition from Christian rapcore to Christian heavy rock and metal, I had the opportunity to meet them and put them in touch with a friend of mine who owned and operated a recording studio and knew AR people. They recorded some demos with him but chose their own path with respect to signing.

I have to say these guys had some of the highest integrity I've ever met. There was zero BS with them. They said what they did and did what they said with one hundred percent honesty. When people came up and tried to tell them they were great, they would gently tell them to direct any praise to God for they needed to maintain a right spirit. You actually feel deeply loved with God's agape love around these guys and that's unfortunately something that few bands are able to accomplish.

Project 86 is good. They've gotten a few posting in here too. Drawing Black Lines was their pinnacle, sadly. And their first release sounded like P.O.D. (At the time, not POD now).
I saw them working in a walmart in CA. They were buying clothes with money from an envelope marked Project 86. Didn't really talk to them but they seemed like cool guys.

That was the material my friend helped them get down. They signed with Atlantic after that. Some of the coolest musicians I ever met to be honest and I met more than a few back in my thirties when I used to hang out with them. Like I said, zero BS and all good people. Better than me to be honest... you too ;). Peace.

I've been trying to find some good power metal for some time now since discovering Theocracy.
I've been following Christian Lilijegren for some reason, his passion for Christ has got me hooked and his vocal style has grown on me lately - I guess because i'm still finding my way with power metal, I hated it for years but the power metal i've come across has amazing, straight to the point lyrics that uplifts me as I listen. Though DivineFire seem to be on the heavier side.

Power metal is a pretty popular style right now among Christian bands. Not a big fan of it myself but lots of the Christian bands seem to do well.

I think I should mention I think progressive metal is more what i'm thinking about. Theocracy is more progressive yeah? Though I haven't come across much progressive that I particularly like. Though progressive can have some power elements to it I think.

Not a big fan of either really. So I haven't taken time to make the distinctions between the two. To me the sound is basically the same. *shrugs

Dunno why, but this song makes me laugh all the time. In some parts, it sounds like a squealing.

Well 'pig squeals' are a popular vocal type in deathcore/grindcore. First time I remember hearing them was Despised Icons first album. Maybe I heard them sooner but that's the first time they stuck out to me. That was at least 10 years ago. Some bands use it to good effect, some bands are just annoying with them.

no not the pig squeals! first time I heard those was from the doom ep by job for a cowboy. everyone that listened to metal in my class loved that cd. I used to like it as well but it got kind of old after everyone would start walking around making that noise. pig squeals were kind of a popular thing for the local scene as well, thankfully it died.

interestingly there is no pig squealing whatsoever on any One Bad Pig song.

I don't know. Maybe not in the core sense, but some of his vocals got awfully squealy sounding. Like on this song and others...
