I mean I had very very little homework throughout all of high school if I remember correctly. It could be I just didn't do it...either way I still graduated in the top 10% of 300+ kids, so it must not have been too important
I did the same. Never carried a book home and got by in high school. Didn't graduate in the top 10% but I did pass with flying colors. Of course now that I am a parent I naturally want what is best for my son. He has the ability to do whatever he wants. He just needs to put his mind to it. I don't want him skimming by like I did. I want him to make better choices than I did as well. I don't want him to be a screw up like his mother is. He deserves so much more.

Plain and simple the media needs to stop making money highlighting tragedies and causing panic.
What do you think about the tragedies themselves?

I know this was to ALS, but I'm also going to respond. I believe a lot of these tragedies are copycats, because people want the attention, and don't realize the consequences.

Calling them "tragedies" makes it sound like no one was at fault. There are Internet conspiracy theorists who have accused the Newtown families of being "crisis actors." "Nobody died!" they say. "It was all a ruse to take our guns!" they say. The level of denial is mind-boggling.

I call them a tragedy because that is exactly what they are. Unless of course you're referring to literature, which, in that case you're right. It's a horror story. It's not a catastrophe or disaster, because that infers it was not done on purpose. So, because someone(s) lost his (their) life, as a result of a predetermined action of another person, it is tragic. It's also tragic when someone who normally leads a very sane life all of a sudden snaps and loses control of their mind, as can happen. Although, in most massacre's, the person who commits the atrocity doesn't just snap over night. In a lot of cases they seem a little off, and either can't get help or don't get help. Not only that, but the way our society reacts to someone who's different only compounds the problem.

Zero tolerance is a joke. The only way to have weapons free school is not to have school at all. You could probably kill someone with a pencil

While everyone was distracted by the poptart that was chewed into the shape of a gun, I sat here chewing a gun into the shape of a poptart.
