Do Muslims and Christians worship the same God? It’s a question that has bedeviled theologians and everyday believers for centuries. And this week it may have cost a tenured professor her job.

Larycia Hawkins, an associate professor ofpolitical science at Wheaton College, was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday after suggesting that believers in the two faiths do indeed follow the same God. Hawkins has also been wearinga hijab—the headscarf worn by many Muslim women—as a gesture of what she calls“embodied solidarity” with Muslims this month. She pledged to wear itthroughout the Advent season, including while she teaches at the Illinoisliberal-arts college, and while flying to her home state of Oklahoma, which in 2010 passed a constitutional amendment banning its courts from considering Islamic Sharia law in decisions...

Lets see allah demands blood shed and if a person goes against the Muslim religion they are disowned by their family and i even heard are killed, God is love and offers grace and freedom and even if you walk away from him and enjoy the riches of this life he doesn't say you are to far gone but instead has his arms wide open ready to embrace is should we ever come back to him.

One of the only ways a Muslim can be assured of attaining heaven is to lose their life while in the act of killing others for the cause of Islam, otherwise known as holy jihad (it may be the only way they have that assurance). Among other things, men are promised 72 perpetual virgins to sexually ravage for the rest of eternity for committing suicide in such a manner.

Our God has a Son and is Love...and yes, love harshly rebukes when needed.

Theologians? Definitely not 'Christian theologians', unless they are the wolves in sheep's clothing kind of liberals!!

When it comes to academic freedom, religiously affiliated colleges occupy a space of perpetual tension. Those which are serious academic institutions—and Wheaton is one—want to nurture scholarship and free inquiry just like any other college does.

"Scholarship and free inquiry" should be read as "denying the basic principles of the bible"...the very thing what made Wheaton great at one time.

Not by definition. It's still a question that has to be asked (and answered) in the whole context of missiology and apologetics. If God and Allah are different (which I believe they are), we have to find out HOW exactly they are different. To appreciate the light and make it come out even more we have to understand the darkness too.
