Israeli forces suppress Christmas march in Bethlehem

309701.jpg

Israeli forces on Tuesday suppressed a peaceful march calling for "Christmas without occupation" in Bethlehem.

Marchers held up signs reading: "Jesus came with a message of: Peace, Freedom and Justice" and "We want Christmas without occupation."

Israeli forces prevented demonstrators, some of whom were dressed as Father Christmas, from reaching the checkpoint and fired tear gas at the crowd.

Several people were treated at the scene for tear gas inhalation.

According to many here, they got what they deserved for celebrating a pagan holiday!

I think it's clear that a state that discriminates based on religion, would not approve of Non-Jewish holidays.

A wake up call for Christian Zionists?

The US 1st Amendment is a model for the whole world, not Israel.

You have it all wrong David. As you know our freedom of speech is disappearing into thin air. At every corner of the globe the police forces are behaving like the military and if u do ur homework, u will know this is by design at the hand of the arch enemy Satan/Rome power to squash individualism. Free market and free thinking. Even now in the US there are bands on feeding the homeless, freedom of assembly, right to work, grow ur own foods, farmers wanting to grow their crops without poisons, and herbal medicines. You see the powers (that are in place for a short time according to God's standards) are spreading their poison across the globe ruining families and lives. There is no true terriorism but America/Rome bosom buddies. Wake up or the wool will be pulled over ur eyes. The 1 Amendment is only on paper. U see America has been gearing up to this point in history prior to the Declaration of Independence. All by design of the big bankers. America is a coporation based on currency. This is one of the main reasons the economy is going to fail. Its the New World Order ex president Bush spoke of when he was in office.

This was not about people wanting to celebrate Christmas....this was about folks using this holiday to promote their own political agenda......And to cause some strife between Jews and Christians.

It was about supporting the end of internationally illegal occupations and showing that support through a peaceful protest. Police have no right to tear gas peaceful protesters.

Like I said it was not about Christmas ..... And I don't know the laws in Israel...but im assuming they do? They don't play around much over their because of all the terrorist attacks and attempts to kill Jews and run them off the land God gave to them :)

The laws in Israel are irrelevant. United Nations allows freedom of peaceful protest, and Israel is a member state, thus agreeing to be bound by, and to honor, that freedom. It is international law.

That wont get you very far here in the USA...although some here are trying to bring us into a international system of law...the vast majority of Americans will die and fight to the end to uphold the U.S. constitution as the only rule of law that applies to us...and last time I checked we still have all the real power in the world. As far as Israel I believe they also have there own law and I don't see them yielding too much to others ...do you? :)

Every country that is a member of the UN, has by becoming a member signed and agreed to abide by international law. The US is a member. Israel is a member. Your power is utterly irrelevent on a legal basis. If it weren't for the US's aggression and threats, George Bush would be facing life imprisonment for breaching the terms of the Geneva Convention in invading Afghanistan and Iraq, and it's exactly what should happen. Again, the only reason it doesn't is because for some reason there seems to be this thought in America that what you do on an international scale isn't subject to interational law, nor should international actions be considered by their international effect; all that seems to matter to America is America's interests and by and large no country can at present contend with your grotesque military expenditure and the arms and weapons gotten thereof, but a country thriving on fiat-debt and military deterrent bought with that debt can only sustain such a position for so long.

Aside from that, do you really agree with a militarized poloce force tear gassing nonviolent protesters?

Well your wrong in effect and in the legal sense that a treaty can be broken at any time the constitutional government of this country decides... And no treaty is greater than the power it takes to enforce it. The fact is and remains that the USA is not subject to any International law but what the constitutional government decides it will allow. And yes in the end military power decides who is boss...and that power draws its strength from the American people and our constitutional government. The whole world could tell Israel they have to do this or that but as long as the have nukes and tanks, no one can "make" them do anything unless they decide to do so. And for the most part the American people support that they fight and win and they have the land that God has clearly given them... And as long as the police force follows the laws of Israel who can be upset with that except those who don't like the laws of Israel?

Should the Jews then return to Ur of the Chaldees? The Palestinian peoples are descended of the Philistines, Caananites, and Midianites. They're home countries are Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and the Sinai. The real mistake was when the Palestinians asked the King of Jordan to relinquish his right of rule over them. Now their official voice is from murderers and terrorists, instead of a lawful king who is respected by most around him, including the Israelis.

The clue is CHECKPOINT. Nothing to do with Christmas, religion or whatever.
