Girls face 'sharp rise in emotional problems' - BBC News

The number of schoolgirls at risk of emotional problems has risen sharply, an English study in the Journal of Adolescent Health suggests.
Scientists analysed questionnaires completed by 1,600 pupils aged 11-13 in 2009, comparing them with similar surveys conducted five years later.
They were "surprised" by a 7% spike in girls reporting emotional issues while boys' answers remained fairly stable.
Charities are concerned pressures are particularly affecting girls.

The last comprehensive national survey of children's mental health was undertaken by the Office for National Statistics more than a decade ago.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists says there is now an urgent need to conduct another one to gather accurate estimates of mental health problems and plan services accordingly.

There are numerous programs in the public venues, schools, even churches that are designed to help girls feel more "empowered" and less vulnerable. I'm sure those programs can address even a slight (7%, per the article) increase of emotional stress for girls.

The question that continues to get left lying in the dust unanswered is, "What about boys?"

There is absolutely nothing more being done for the emotional issues for preadolescent, adolescent, and young adult males than there was 25 years ago. We are leaving an entire pair of generations -- Xers and Millennials -- with no answers for the stress, troubles, and self-medicating behaviors they experience.

even with awareness , to these problems, why do they need an other Scientists analysed questionnaires done.
would it not be more productive, if they addressed the problems and tried to resolve them.
for example.
have a list of a-z for teachers at school so that they could spot and move the kids to someone that can help the problems. for both genders. etc

One of the biggest reasons for this is broken families and the rise of single parenthood. It hurts both girls and boys.
