Harold Camping had been predicting the end of the world his whole life and that was his career.

True, I am getting tired of prophecies being spouted everywhere especially online about the end of the world....all I know is it's most important to be prepared to meet Jesus by living for Him as best as I can every moment. Prophecy may or may not happen it shouldn't affect our spiritual preparation though!

When the real prophecies start happening, the ones on earth will have to be able to switch gears and know the truth from the false.

True but it may be too late for people (unbelievers) if the rapture happens (pre,mid, or post no matter what viewpoint....people will always be comfortable and put off salvation until they are smacked hard with reality/rock bottom...but in an end of world scenario I think the "window of grace" would be either very small or non-existent. Yes I know some will be saved 144,000 during the trib but I think for most they will be condemned b/c they heard multiple times in their life and choose knowingly not to accept Christ imo....

Harold Campings' big kick at the "end" also occurred for May 21, 2011. I remember because my DIL phoned me in a panic from California, where there were signs everywhere saying the end was nigh!

She knew nothing about eschatology, but it sure scared her to death. I spent about an hour explaining that because she is born again, whatever happens, Jesus is coming but no one can predict the end, according the Jesus. I also talked about this whole nonsense rapture business, and how we are to occupy till Jesus returns, and not sit stairing at the sky, waiting for the end to come.

I don't know how people get so messed up with this end of the world scenerios. If they read their Bible, instead of books scare mongers have written, they would be eagerly serving Christ, and confident and secure in the knowledge that Jesus is holding onto them, and will remember them when he returns.

When I see the man of sin drive Israel into the wilderness, I will began to believe that the end has began.
In the mean time, I will keep on keeping on.

Look at the fig tree and the other trees. When it begins to blossom it's near the door. Jews and muslims are getting saved. The whole world isn't reached yet. There's a prophecy in Matthew, that one's correct.
The magicians and 2 people that prayed daily and Mary and Joseph knew when Jesus was coming. The rest didn't. The exact time was in Daniel though.

I refuse to live my life worrying about the end of times. I take Jesus at his word, so I plan to live my life enjoying the wonders of the wonderful world that he has provided for me here, and look forward to an eternity in the unimaginably beautiful heaven that is waiting for me when he calls me home.

Heard a guy on TV one time......don't remember who, or the show....but what he said stuck with me........

He said: You can get busy dying, or get busy living....the choice is yours.

The Jehovah Witnesses predicted Armageddon with boring regularity. Charles Russell their founder started the ball rolling when he claimed the combatants in WW1 were the Generation that would not pass away that Jesus spoke about.
When many had passed away forward planning was put in action and the teaching was changed to those who were only born in 1914 which gave the JW's a bit more time to peddle the message. Since most if not all have now passed away they keep quiet about it. Joseph (Judge), Rutherford, Russell's successor was so convinced he had homes built for Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The most famous flop was for 1975. Many JWs left the movement afterwards.

Martin Luther? Wow. He probably just thought it was the end of the world because the Pope was gaining more power.

Well, they are just listening to the wrong prophets.

  • Then love shall die and marriage cease And nations wane as babes decrease.
  • {Failure of marriages and divorce. Decrease in population (in Europe) and wholesale abortion in America. Could be a future time when birth rates plummet due to radiation, earth changes or volcanic ash.}
  • And wives shall fondle cats and dogs And men live much the same as hogs.
    {Sounds like a very female point of view here!}
    The king shall false promise make;
    And talk just for talking’s sake.
    And nations plan horrific war;
    The like as never seen before.
    And taxes rise and lively down;
    And nations wear perpetual frown.

    • In nineteen hundred and twenty-six Build houses light of straw and sticks. For then shall mighty wars be planned And fire and swords shall sweep the land.
    • {Mistimed prophecy for World War I or WWII? Of course she may still be correct, as this is the period of time in which the NEXT great war is being PLANNED. In this same approximate time-frame, Hitler andRudolph Hess are in jail together writing MEIN KAMPF.}
    • When pictures seem alive with movements free, When boats like fishes swim beneath the sea. When men like birds shall scour the sky. Then half the world, deep drenched in blood shall die.
    • {Television ! Submarines, aircraft and then death through War.}

      • For those who live the century through In fear and trembling this shall do. Flee to the mountains and the dens To bog and forest and wild fens.
      • {After the 20th century is over, people will live in fear and flee to mountains, dens & forests for refuge.}
      • For storms will rage and oceans roar When Gabriel stands on sea and shore, And as he blows his wondrous horn Old worlds die and new be born.
      • {The Last Trumpet. The Biblical Revelation. The destruction of this civilization and creation of a new one - the so called “End Of The World”.}
      • A fiery dragon will cross the sky Six times before the earth shall die. Mankind will tremble and frightened be For the six heralds in this prophecy.
      • {Appearance of a series of six comets and a probable collision with earth as indicated in the Bible and by Nostradamus. In the last 20 years alone we have seen at least four spectacular comets or “fiery dragons”: Halley’s, Kahoutek (a bit of a dud), Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp. But it appears here that she is referring to a SINGLE OBJECT that grazes the atmosphere before a collision, like the near asteroid miss we had last week, looping around us six times over seven days before a collision with Earth.}
      • For seven days and seven nights Man will watch this awesome sight. The tides will rise beyond their ken. To bite away the shores and then The mountains will begin to roar And earthquakes split the plain to shore.
        Prophecies of Mother Shipton

        Decades before the rest of the world was thinking about the enormous impact that China would have upon the global stage, Edgar Cayce predicted great things for China and its people. On one occasion, Cayce told a group of people that eventually China would become “the cradle of Christianity, as applied in the lives of men.” (3976-29), suggesting that the personal application of spiritual principles would become paramount to the Chinese people. Cayce then went on to caution that it would take a long time to manifest but that it was the country’s destiny: “Yea, it is far off as man counts time, but only a day in the heart of God – for tomorrow China will awake.”

        On another occasion, when a thirty-six-year-old book publisher asked about the destiny of China in 1943, just prior to his own trip to the country to serve in the capacity of a missionary, Cayce promised amazing changes in the country that would lead to more democracy and greater religious freedom. He also suggested that eventually the height of civilization would move from the West to the Chinese people: “And these will progress. For, civilization moves west.” (#2834-3)

        The Cayce readings had much to say about the life of Jesus—covering the “lost” years that were never addressed in the Bible. But Cayce also spoke of Jesus’ return and here is an excerpt on that subject:
        “What is meant by “the day of the Lord is near at hand”? (A) That as has been promised through the prophets and the sages of old, the time – and half time – has been and is being fulfilled in this day and generation, and that soon there will again appear in the earth that one through whom many will be called to meet those that are preparing the way for His day in the earth. The Lord, then, will come, ‘even as ye have seen him go.’” Edgar Cayce reading (262-49) July 9, 1933
