Iran detains 10 US sailors after vessels stopped in the Gulf - BBC News

Taking bets anyone?

Iran has detained 10 US sailors after their vessels were stopped in the Gulf, a US official told the BBC."We lost contact with two small US naval craft en route from Kuwait to Bahrain," the official said.
He said that the Iranians informed the US that the sailors were safe and "will promptly be allowed to continue their journey".
The sailors are likely to be released on Wednesday morning, US officials said.
The incident happened near Farsi Island after one of the ships encountered mechanical problems.
Iran's semi-official news agency FARS reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard detained the nine men and one woman, and that they had been "trespassing" and "snooping" in Iranian waters.

I have little faith. I wouldn't be surprised if Iran comes up with an excuse to detain them longer.
they said theyd be released promptly....they've been saying that since the beginning.... maybe their unholy kooran misinterprets 'promptly', too.

I think it's kind of funny that they made the woman wear a burqah.

As you aren't an American, it may be funny, but to American Sailors, it is a forced act designed to humiliate the woman Sailor, and forced submission to their Sharia Law. She should have refused, and the male Sailors should never have accepted her wearing the burgah, nor accepted the meal given them, and eating it while she knelt behind them in the corner. Completely unacceptable behavior in my old Soldier opinion.

It may just be their religion.
Or, it may just be their way to humiliate the US and to show how the US Military and the Nation bow to them.

The Iranian Government and it's leaders are some of the most evil persons alive today.

If you look directly above p_rehbein's post you will see that HeRose deleted a post. p_rehbein just happened to quote the post before HeRose deleted it.

I'm on a tablet, so maybe it's different, but I can't see that. I only see #10 but no indication that something was deleted. I thought I was going nuts. (Going?:p)
I don't get alot of in-thread replies to my posts unless it's an arguement or a put-down. There ARE some, which I appreciate, but 'positive' feedback is few and far between, so really, thanks just for answering! God bless. :)

Anyway, I did want to comment on HeRoses statement....
Yes, it IS their 'religion'. That's the problem.

O come Phanté, we all know it was due to Kerry's stellar diplomacy that they received mercy from the Iranians:rolleyes:

Do you think they were previously instructed to act so sheepishly if detained or is that just that group of 10?

This whole thing stinks....something just aint right. The timing, the billions in sanctions being handed to them, but very curious is the nearly verbatim apology from a white house rep, and kerry, and the naval officer. This whole episode is just a little too slick, and it's quickly being brushed aside. Something aint right.

United States Vice President Joe Biden said the way Iran handled the U.S. boat that drifted into
its waters was “just standard nautical practice.” He described Iran’s response as one that could
be expected from any “ordinary” nation.

The true account, however, reveals that this encounter was anything but routine.

Iran approached the U.S. ship with guns drawn, took the crew captive, made the one female
crew member wear a head scarf, and then videotaped the captain apologizing for the incident
before releasing them one day later.

The Obama administration applauded Iran’s speedy handling of the situation and said a major crisis
was averted. America’s reaction to this latest incident in the Persian Gulf is weakening its standing in
the world and helping to prop up its enemies.
