so now we all have artificial intelligence or, as I like to call it when not asked if I want it, artificial interference, emboldened in the newer phones

just traded in my good ole Galaxy 10 for the new S24 and it came with more gobble de gook than anyone has time for. of course for those of you that have Siri taking up space...well you have been practicing all along ;)

I understand your concern.
If you don't have privacy, you have no freedom.
Any of those controls can be used to violate rights and steal wealth. Example:
There was a simple scam that was used on millions of people including my Dad. An illegitimate phone company would call and engage in conversation, give their spiel and ask an innocent question or two, like a questionnaire. Later you start getting bills. You contest the bills and the local company says they have nothing to do with that other long distance company. However the bill has a combined change. If you don't pay the crooked long distance minimum fee that auto occurs, the phone line is disconnected for local too. You can't get hold of a person in that company, just auto recordings. If you happen to get through eventually, they play back a spliced call of an agreement presented by the company and the household member saying "YES.". It was taken out of context and is fraudulent. There's no recourse.

That said, it's more advanced be ause the scammers just plug in information and steal directly. AT&T required a social security number for credit checks to simply buy a phone in full for cash. What did they do with the ss? Claimed their system was hacked and all the personal data of all customers taken. They are sorry, but nothing can be done...

I'm no longer considered a techie, but do try to protect my privacy and take classes from time to time for continuing education.

You picked an important topic Niki.
Others might not be concerned, but that's because they haven't had bank accounts wiped out by crooked banks yet.

I don't think 'warms the heart' is the phrase I would use. The phrase 'Lord help us' does come to mind however...

I wonder if there is such of a thing as a 'never-googled' phone...? :unsure:

I'm not concerned as in 'oh no what are we going to do'. At the moment you can still turn off the AI offered as an option. I'm not a
'techie' but I prob know more than the average person and you can download manuals for these phones that will walk you through anything.

I just thought it was an interesting article and I am sure there are people who still do not realize what is going on 'behind the curtain'

But for sure you want to retain your privacy and I do that all the time. I never heard about the false phone company...sorry your dad got caught up in this one. I'm the guardian in my home...my husband doesn't want to know a thing about any of it.....I actually like tech but as something I can use and not as something insidious creeping into my life. So I look after all things tech related. My husband needs a phone for his work of course....but he just wants to use it as a phone.....not a 'companion' :giggle:

I don't think it is anything to get worried about, the government simply wants to know where you are at all times so that in the event they need to move you to emergency housing they can do that in a pinch. They also want to know who you might have come in contact with and infected. There are cures, special training, and even chips that can connect your brain to AI curing all wrong thoughts. As long as you stand strong for the Lord, and stay rooted in Him you will be fine.
