Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; And My wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. Exodus 22:21-24
(The Gentile, referred to as a "stranger," was placed with the widow and the orphan, and made the special object of God's care. In fact, it was on account of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, and the destruction of its inhabitants, was allowed to take place [Jeremiah 22:3-5].)
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word: for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.When he arose, he took the young Child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
