Here's a question.

Why did this child get accepted for Pre-School and Kindergarten if this was an issue? It's not like this wouldn't have come up before.

Could it be that the school decided now was a politically advantageous time to deny admission for the first grade? If they're going to do this, they need to be consistent. They should never have accepted the child in the first place. Money has most likely already changed hands previously in this arrangement. You can't act righteously indignant and take someone's money at the same time.
If you recall, the same sex marriage ruling came out in June during school vacation. Since then the couple may have legalized their union and the child was refused on the Labor Day weekend (just before school resumed?). So it doesn't look as if it was done after the fact.

Lol

Oops
Pardon me folks!
What thread am I in lol

I just was following my good buddy

Sorry! Lol

Something about lesbians in Chrisrian schools

Well I know that if one wants to be gay that is their choice
But people shouldnt push it on children

And heck while I am here

Why do SOME Christian funds get our money to feed children
And all those kids get is rice
Yet the CEOs live in mansions

How can ya feed hungry kids rice
And sleep in a mansion without guilty feelins?

I dunno
but
I best sign off before I get a controversy started :)

Night all
Safety and love to you all

So instead we deny a 5 year old a christian education and a chance of maybe not making the same mistakes her moms did? Totally logical.
I concur . . .

This was the school's decision not ours.
They saw what happened to the boy scouts and maybe didn't want the same.
If the moms want to give their child a christian education they should send her to Sunday School and Church.

If I was Homosexual, I SURE wouldn't want my child to be taught that I am wrong, and going to hell.... and, let's face it, that is what the kid is going to hear all over that school when they get old enough to begin addressing such subjects.

These folks could just be looking for another court case to attack Christians?

Exactly, otherwise why stick your kid in a school whose values differ from your own...especially a private one.

Said attorney then having leaped aggresively at his desktop phone to hurriedly dial the lesbian parents so as to assure no one else beat him to the punch in representing them.

How is this the job of the "local news," to find lesbians with a complaint against Christians an attorney?
Pffft. When was the last time a reporter actually went out of their way to find news to report? It's basically videos and e-mails in their website for interested people to notify them and hand them the story...

Like say the homosexual community doing more PR work for their agenda?

Ah... well when I lived that life I actually did start calling myself a Christian, but I didnt /really/ know Gods word, and for the whole lbgt thing, I just ignored what the bible said and believed God was so loving that He accepted even those who were living in rebellion to Him.

This lesbian couple may be the same way, they believe in God, to an extent, but have made Him into their own earthly god who is more concerned about having a "good life" over living righteously.

But even still, they should be aware that Christians /do/ actually follow Gods word, and not their own personal feelings. So yeah, the whole thing of them putting their child in a Christian school is a weird thing, even if they do consider themselves "Christian".

Yes, and if they believed that God was so loving, why sue? Why not forgive and move on to a school that agreed with them?

I think the answer is obvious. I forget which post, but it said the little girl wanted "to be with her friends."

So now she is not going to be with her friends, and a private school is going to be taken to court? Hmm - my kids made new friends when we moved, when I switched schools because I didn't like the humanist teachers, etc. etc.

I guess the parents need to find her a school right away. Or home school her, like many Christians choose to do.

Many of the Christian schools I know would accept that girl and her 'mums' into their school. But in no way would the schools advocate for LGBLT rights. Teachers would teach God's Word and look for Holy Spirit to minister to them, to their students and to parents.

I actually agree with you on this one, mostly. I agree with you more than I don't agree with you, if that makes sense. If it is a private school, then to start with, they have the right to refuse any kid entrance on pretty much any grounds (except for racially discriminatory or religiously or sexually discriminatory ones, which I'll get to after). Second, if they are a Christian school teaching biblical values, that means that part of their policies is to maintain biblical precedents like not being gay, for instance.

The grey area is to do with the fact that they are a for-profit business under American business regulations, and that presents this problem: the kid herself is not lesbian, and the school have refused her for having lesbian parents. If they were a non-profit, or a church, this wouldn't even be an issue at all. And even though the school, as a for-profit business, can't be forced by law to accept any particular kid, they probably can be sued for not accepting this kid on the grounds that her parents were lesbians. However, it's not really likely, because any good lawyer would simply point out that the mothers' lifestyle choices and what the school would be teaching their kid, are a direct conflict of interest if you compare them to the teachings of the school.

I kind of, almost totally agree with you on this, but it would have made things a whole lot easier if the school had just said to the parents "I'm sorry, we have decided to fill the place at the school with another child who showed greater academic merit".

That should be a dead giveaway on their motives. Since that is what they and the child will face, there is no way they really want the kid admitted. They just want the headlines.
