it appears to me that the ones calling for this pipe dream knight in shining armor bastion of righteousness savior of a president are really calling for the baby to be torn in two.

Thats so true,they will settle for what they get.Trump will tell his supporters anything and It seems to be ok.
IE.
I can shoot someone and still keep my supporters.

Where I come from,anyone that stays with someone like that deserves what they get.

When that wall,deportation and I can go on and on,doesn't pan out,I wonder....what will his supporters think.

Some things may not pan out. But it won't be because he didn't try. It will be because Congress tied his hands, and he choose not to do as Obama does, and just ignore them by writing Executive Orders, right and left, to get his way.

What he means by being "open to doing something about the minimum wage" is that he is considering a plan to provide more income to low wage earners without hurting America's competitiveness.

How in the world is that possible you ask?? By giving low wage earners an increase in yearly income in the form of substantial tax credits and/or exemptions. This would supplement their wages and give them a higher overall income WITHOUT forcing employers to increase their salaries.
