So I haven't heard the whole story yet but the gist is that a passenger who speaks Arabic overheard another passenger say something threatening in Arabic. The over hearer reported it to the airline crew who, after checking with higher authority, removed the speaker from the plane. Now as you might guess people are all up in arms about it being discrimination against religion and nationality yada yada yada.

Thoughts? Anyone heard more about it?

It depends on what the person that has said that was so threatening. Was he making an remark about someone breath that it was smelling so bad that it can suffocate everyone on this plane to death; or did he said that he cannot wait to blow up this plane?

I don't know, I haven't heard anything more about it. But yeah it would all hinge on what was said.

It was a student talking to his uncle. The overhearing passenger heard the student say "if god is willing" in Arabic. He reported it to the crew who, after discussion with security agents, removed him from the plane until he could be checked out. The student was cleared and put onto a later flight.

I think they did the right thing. Yeah it smells of profiling but hey, when the vast majority of terrorist events are being committed by arabs, especially now "lone wolf" arabs, it seems kinda dumb to be speaking in a way that you should know would attract attention.

Is this a story from our side of the world? We were brought up to do as the Romans do while in Rome. Why speak Arabic when they can presumably speak English? Are they living in a bubble and unaware of the current social climate? Nobody can say the word "bomb" anywhere near an airport, does not matter your color or nationality. There are probably other words, and there are lots of substances you can't travel with by air any more. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/prohibited-items

People all over the world are living in a bubble and unaware (maybe more correctly uncaring) of what's going on around them.
