Phone scam

A recorded voice cut into a phone call between my son and me. The voice said I was out of minutes and needed to give them a prepaid phone card number or a credit card number. I have unlimited minutes so I hung up on them. I called the Police they said there was nothing they could do because the calls come from overseas and they change their numbers all the time.

I find when I Google these type occurances much info comes up.
My wife has had some imposter IRS agents call her and gave her a hard time saying we owe thousands of dollars and wanted payment etc.. Scared her out of her wits.

My mother recently received a phone call:

criminal: Grandma, its your grandson, I'm in trouble and need money wired to me! Hurry!
my mother: Who is this?
criminal: Your grandson, your first.
my mother: What's your name?
criminal: I'm your oldest grandson, grandma, your first.
my mother: You can't tell me your name?
criminal: Don't you recognize me, grandma?
my mother: You don't even know your first name, besides, my oldest grandson doesn't call me grandma, he calls me by a nickname. Nice try.

Way to go, mom!

I don't think it was a scam. I get that occasionally. I think it's just a glitch in the system.

My mother received one of these calls several years ago. Her reply was "I didn't know that they had phones in heaven?" She got silence for a few seconds, and a click.

The Police knew it to be a scam and no glitch like that has ever happened to me before. The Police also knew that the call came from overseas, so there is some form of a record on this scam.

I had a guy call me telling me I was going to be given thousands of dollars for having a clean criminal record and paying my taxes. I told them they had the wrong number because I just got out of prison for murder. For some reason they hung up. Never heard from them again.

Just looking to prey upon the old and senile. Why did she have to give him such a hard time?

I just got that crazy call a few months ago. But the IRS never contacts people by phone. It's always through the mail, the police told me. But that phone call scared me so bad! I was like, "How in the heck do I owe the IRS $3,000??" Anyhow, while that phony IRS caller and I were talking, I did get to witness to him. So I hope that call benefitted the Lord. It didn't benefit the caller cuz he got zilch from me. Unless of course if he repented and asked Jesus into his life. :D

I am so glad that guy telephoned me rather than come to my front door. I have PTSD and am a weight trainer with cat-like moves. It would have quickly evolved into a scene similar to Liam Neeson in "Taken"...............
