A senate bill that would help veterans get employment with bipartisan support in the senate is stopped due to a cloture vote where 40 republicans voted to prevent a floor vote on the bill.

Senators Burr, Toomey, Boozman, and Johanns actually wrote parts of the bill and still voted against it.
vote for cloture was 59 -40 quite enough to pass the bill but not enough to bring it onto the floor for a vote.

In the current session the republicans have used cloture votes to stop over 100 bills from even getting voted on, most of which had bipartisan support. Seems senate minority leader McConnell promised not to let President Obama to get anything that might offer some positive credit.

because it would give Obama some proof that his administration works for vets. They would have to admit that he did in fact get things done during his time in office.

Well, usually the phrase "conspiracy theory" implies that it's a big secret. In that respect, it's not, because neither side is particularly trying to hide their disdain from the other.

But insofar as the republicans are conspiring against the democrats to make sure nothing gets done while "their guy" is in office (and yes, the democrats do this to the republicans, too), I'd say you're spot on.

Again, not really a big secret or surprise. The only surprise is that some Americans are still stupid enough to think it isn't happening.

Well if the senate minority leader said it into a public address system and it was recorded then it is hard to prove otherwise. Senator McConnell told the world that "he and the other republicans would do everything in their power to make sure that Obama was a one term president". Conspiracy or not, it is a fact and the evidence is overwhelming when the republicans refuse to even vote on their own bills.

The last time the senate ever saw so many cloture votes was never, this session has been a new all time record. Republicans blocking votes on just about everything. Without 61 votes nothing gets passed in the senate and our constitution is based upon the idea that a majority rules not 61 or more. It used to be that when a filibuster was on the floor there were people who "held the floor" now all they need to do is threaten to do it and a bill never comes to the floor for a vote.

There is no record of the democrats ever doing that in the senate.

Well lets say that's true -- So we should leave Obama in there another 4 years and get NO WHERE .. We need a leader that everyone will work with

You're correct: the democrats aren't nearly as thorough as the republicans have been in the past 2 years. That doesn't mean they haven't done it, they just haven't been as effective at it.

I think to some extent you're right; democrats really don't want to destroy the country. They may want to destroy "the other guy," but not at the expense of the country. The republicans don't seem to care what the cost is. If people suffer as a result of "the other guy" getting the axe, that's just fine with them. And that is a higher level of sickness.

And who might that be? It certainly wouldn't be Romney! Even his own party can't stand him.

Still looking for a good alternative.

It isn't one but again we must put a new president in then in 4 years we can get rid of him also. American politicians need to know if they don't repent and turn from their ways then they will be voted out and gone.

That the American people demand change. Demand accountability.

The point is that republicans helped write that law and they still voted against it.

Democrats blocked votes, yes, but the number of times that bills are getting blocked now is at a record high. Democrats blocked votes on things they didn't like, but not on things they were okay with. There was some bi-partisan support. Republicans won't even accept things where they wrote the bills: they aren't even allowing passage of bills that they support.

Don't just take our word for it: look it up for yourself: never before in US history has congress ever blocked so many bills from being passed. EVER. Not under any Democrat, Republican, Whig, or Torrie.
