The Force is clearly strong with the Church of Jediism, but expression of Jedi belief is nothing new, and has hit the headlines in recent years. Earlier this year thousands of Turkish students petitioned their university to build a Jedi temple in response to an increased numbers of mosques being built on campuses across the country.

In 2010 a Jedi benefits claimant who was escorted out of a Jobcentre for refusing to take down his hood subsequently received a written apology. Last year a Jedi inmate accused prison authorities of intolerance for refusing to recognise his Star Wars-based religion.
Definitely the faith of the antichrist

I think that Hillary wants to be a Jedi. She finished her debate appearance with "May the force be with you."

Or, she's taking donations from Disney.
If you listen very closely, at the end she whispers......

"Go see Star Wars : The Force Awakens out on December 18th in theaters...or IMAX 3D, and vote Clinton."

This is just a fan boy club. I see it more like someone who wants to play a knight once a month. I'm sure they will have a blast trying to force lift each other or choke each other out while crossing their eyes from the strain.

This is just silly. If you want to be a modern Jedi, just convert to eastern mysticism.

I do hope that Jediism makes waves in the muslim world. Let's pump more of their evangelists into Turkey.

It sounds like something from a Douglas Adams plot line- a religion based on a popular movie.

Of course, people would eventually forget it was from a movie. In thousands of years, historians will argue over where jediism actually came from and if it's alleged founder, Yogi-da, walked the earth.

Radical Jedis will then try to kill off the skeptics, adding the prefix "Darth" to the names of their targets and collectively referring to them as "Sith."

And so it goes.

Star Wars is an odd beast. Much of it is derived from Taoism-lite, but then you have a very Judeo-Christian worldview where good must conqueror evil and self-sacrifice is good etc., even though they keep going on about there needing to be a balance of both the light and the dark side.

Well it looks like I have no choice....

It's time to reveal myself as a Sith lord before 2 other people think of it and I end up being some meaningless Sith hopeful.

The mindless Jedi musings were always my least favorite part of Star Wars. All I have to say to master Yoda is "be angry and sin not." I mean what does he know? He has the voice of Miss Piggy.

Thankfully, the Jedi religion itself isn't too developed outside videogames, expanded universe books, jediism practitioners, and the moldy imagination of George Lucas. The Judeo-Christian aspects of Star Wars you mentioned are what people think of first. The jedi mumbo jumbo is more for the hard core fans.

It's kind of like how most Star Trek fans come for the scifi, not Gene Roddenberry's Utopian tripe.
