Ahaha...:)

I loves the doomsday avatar!
Why does a photo of a wildland fire indicate doomsday to you?

As I ask of all conspiracy folks, if you want to suggest something like a particular picture of a rock proves the moon landing was made up, at minimum, you need to post the picture that proves this assertion. Otherwise, well, we simply take a strangers word on the internet as gospel.

Sure thing chief...

The same photos can be found on NASA's official photo library but I'm not going to dig all day to satisfy you curiosity...

I suppose I should thank you for posting a link to a site that shows proof that you are a conspiracy nut. There are dozens of conspiracies regarding the moon landing. Wiki sites many of them and then explains how the process of developing pictures and limitations of cameras and lighting conditions lead to some of the things like an inability to see stars in pictures when there is too much light from other sources.

There are artifacts in the photos such as the two seemingly matching 'C's on a rock and on the ground (the rock is seen in NASA photos AS16-107-17445 and 17446). They could be "prop continuity markers." Conspiracists say that the first copies of the photos released do show these marks, and that later releases may have been doctored, and that attempts to debunk this problem focus exclusively on one example on the rock, ignoring the second on the ground and the coincidence of two, allegedly identical artifacts on the same photo.[SUP][34][/SUP]

  • The "C"-shaped objects are most likely printing imperfections not in the original film from the camera, but only in some of the later generation copies of AS16-107-17446 (and no copies of 17445). One suggestion, as seen in the next link, is that when magnified the 'C' is a coiled hair present on a specific print of the photo which was later widely duplicated. (See "Who Mourns For Apollo?"[SUP][28][/SUP] by Mike Bara and "Clavius: Photo Analysis - lunar rover" by Jay Windley.[SUP][35][/SUP])

Conspiracy folks love to invent conspiracies based on their lack of knowledge on particular topics. That is quite common among them. They know a little science and they believe they know more than they do about any given subject. When confronted with the simple truth, they refuse to accept they could be wrong and therefore they go straight to a conspiracy theory.

I don't know why I'm going to do this, but I'm going to take on someone (again) regarding the 9/11 attack at the pentagon. I have found those who believe conspiracy theories regarding that attack to be amongst the most delusional because the evidence is so conclusive they are wrong. You can jump into the debate, if you like. I do not possess any powers of clairvoyance but I can tell you how the debate ends. Conspiracy nuts will storm off, saying they are finished trying to expose such obvious conspiracies to those who refuse to accept them. They will say I have been brainwashed by the government. They seem to believe all evidence presented to them is only from controlled government sources. They will not answer questions. When I prove one particular point to be true, they will ignore it and ask another question unrelated in order to deflect away from them losing the debate. It will be a rather endless series of posts with them bouncing from one conspiracy to another. They will occasionally post a youtube video of a chubby middle age man standing in his kitchen or living room (the quintessential conspiracy theory subject) reading from a script and rambling on and on about the plane crash almost continually stating false information that conspiracy nuts refuse to acknowledge as false. He'll post pictures that are not of what he states they are of. He'll show only the picture of the scene where you don't see plane parts lying on the ground, despite there being plenty of pictures that do show plane parts lying on the ground. He'll state the entry hole was merely 16 feet wide and will not explain how he got that measurement because he made it up. You see, conspiracy nuts do not require proof from their fellow conspiracy nuts. They only want those disproving their theory to provide evidence, which they quickly dismiss, because real evidence contradicts their fairy tale beliefs. Watch and be entertained by it.

So, since you argue with "Conspiracy Nuts" does that make you an "Anti-Conspiracy Nut"?

The answer seems obvious. While the U.S. could have been providing it's citizens with better roads and bridges, free college tuition, lower cost health care, better parks, a secure border with Mexico, a stronger military, they decided to throw away billions and billions on what amounted to a box of rocks and some bad tasting tang. I'd like to think other countries learned from our enormous waste money that has left us in a spiral of debt. A Mars space program is essentially doubling down on the waste. Totally pointless. But I suppose it will provide the conspiracy crowd with even more headlines about Martians returning to Earth to colonize us.

Maybe like an insult-ish compliment ?

My brother once told me, Jean, you're shooting like a girl...it felt like an insult...lol
Love your comeback. Mama said that you should ware that with pride. Little story to support her.

We were out back with our grandchildren, nieces, and nephews doing a little (that's country little) target practice with them. One of the older nephews told our 9 year old grandson that he was shooting like a girl. Mama, took his gun and emptied it in the bull's eye. She looked the nephew in eyes and said "He must be a pretty good shoot".

Let's stick to you writing down your opinion and I'll write down my opinion. No need for either of us to guess what the other is thinking.

After spending hundreds of millions of dollars designing the perfect vehicle to explore the environment on Mars, our first Mars rover landed, rolled 18" and got stuck against a rock, never to move again. So NASA designed the next one to overcome the rocks, which I guess they didn't plan on the first time. They simply built a rover much larger. And it only cost 30 times as much. What a bargain for tax payers. Now we have all sorts of information about the soil and rocks on Mars. Sound familiar? While I enjoyed Matt Damon's movie about his experience surviving on Mars, the reality is the money spent is needed badly here on this planet, where we all live. Save the science projects for when we do not have $19 trillion in debt and are at risk of losing Medicare and Medicaid and social security. When the economy collapses, will we be able to recover any of the money wasted by having a Mars rock sale? Doubt it. Federal spending is obscene. It should have been slashed decades ago. Politicians and voters seem to think spending $1.40 for every $1 taken in revenue will never result in any blow back. At least not on their watch. Maybe you and Newt Gingrich can share a beer and discuss the great need to colonize the moon. I'm more inclined doing the math and suggesting we are getting close to a financial crisis, requiring great austerity. That's my actual view, not your condescending flat earth comment.

Funny you asked that because somehow the speaker of the men's retreat talked for a little bit about wealth... But the way I see it, it's okay to have money. But God doesn't want is coveting it. He wants us to chase Him. Whether it's money. Sports. Music. Anything can quickly turn into an idol.

I was thinking of posting a new thread on what we ppl would think - God would consider hoarding of wealth?.... 50m? Less? more?

Idk... It's probably one of those go no where discussions.. :)

Alright let's bury the hatchet on this... :) My comment was snide - and I apologize. You make good points. The world is so insane right now - going to Mars isn't really on my radar. I have kids that I need to build a bomb shelter for...

FYI - I'm 100% with you on the Matt Damon Mars movie... Interstellar was more on point IMO.
