Texas school investigating vicious hit on referee during high school football game

A Texas school district is investigating after video showing a series of vicious – and apparently intentional – hits on a referee by two high school players during a game on Friday went viral.

Northside Independent School District is looking into a play in which two John Jay High School defensive players hit a ref with about a minute left during a 15-9 loss to Marble Falls.

"The bottom line is, Northside will not tolerate this type of behavior,” NISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez told KENS5 on Sunday. “It does appear the athletes intentionally tackled the referee, but we have not confirmed it.”
The video:

These kids never need to play high school football again. Or football at any level, for that matter.

In Utah's world:

A lifetime expulsion from participating in and coaching in all high school sports against both players, the head coach, the defensive coordinator and the defensive back coach.

Assault charges and conspiracy to commit bodily harm against all the above mentioned.

Five minutes each behind closed doors with Utah. Trust me, sportsmanship, humility and justice will be achieved in all phases of life during their five minutes with Tigger.

HAHAHAHAHA You know..I was an excellent ball player..I pitched and played third base..was throwing 75 miles an hour at 12..shut outs..no hitters..batted lead off had about a 720 average and everyone said I could go pro....at no time did I think about beaning a player, throwing the bat at the umpire etc....I had one ump that had to be paid off...I was thriwing nothing but strikes and he would not call one for anything...I may have cussed him a bit, but did not think about cracking him with the bat or ball.....

I got thrown out of a game in college for the weirdest rules violation I ever heard of ...

I took a called second strike from pitcher Rick Sutcliffe at Kansas -- yeah, that Rick Sutcliffe, and I was an old sophmore, returning to Mizzou after my first six years on active duty on the Army's dime, still active-duty. Everyone, including Rick and the catcher after the game, said the pitch was clearly a ball.

I stepped out, gathered myself, then -- apparently, because I sure don't remember, and certainly didn't do it intentionally -- gripped the bat with both hands and twisted them in opposite directions while looking (supposedly) at the ump. I was just trying to get a good clean grip, and wasn't paying any attention to where I was looking. I was thinking about what Sut was gonna throw.

The ump said I was "threatening him" and tossed me. There ensued a seven-minute verbal brouhaha involving first me, then our third base coach, then our head coach Hugh McArtor, and ultimately our athletic director.

Strangest day of my life ever, in college baseball. But if I'd really wanted to "protest" I guess I could've done like these dumb butts did, and swing the bat at the ump. But that would've never entered my mind.
