I guess I didn't realize it was a stretch to assume that oil and fish get to market on ships. My bad.
Is it also a stretch to assume that those lanes are classically protected by the US Navy and its allies? Consequently, is it a stretch to conclude that the Chinese are the ones sabre rattling by building islands and claiming said shipping lanes?

You want to talk about sowing discord. The Chicoms know exactly what they are doing.

What the US says publically is often at odds with what is really being contemplated and weighed. Besides sovereignty, navigation and overflight issues it is primarily about oil.
I agree, what governments say publically and speak in private are often 2 different things with often different motivations than what they express openly. But power and money is usually the main driving force behind their actions, some countries are just better than others at disguising their real intent than others.

I'd say you hit the nail on the head. And they are doing it because Obama is weak and they know it.

I think the big fuss with China and surrounding areas is firstly who owns the oil and the fish in the waters, not so much how it gets to market. The US interest seems more in keeping that 5 trillion dollar shipping lane open so the cash can flow without interruption. :)

But I was under the impression by scripture that the earth is the Lords and everything that is in it, but many men see it differently.

You really should look at some maps of the area and educate yourself as to all that is at stake in that region.

Yeah, but theft is also considered a sin.

Hey your the one who said this move by the US is about protecting the sovereignty and oil fields of the poor Filipinos, which is contrary to what the US officials have said concerning this latest move testing China. (which by the way is what the OP is about)

China Warns U.S. Navy After Ship Sails by Chinese-Built Island - US News

Here is a quote from the article....

"The U.S. says it doesn't take a position on sovereignty over the South China Sea, but insists on freedom of navigation and overflight. About 30 percent of global trade passes through the South China Sea, which is also home to rich fishing grounds and a potential wealth of undersea mineral deposits." [end quote]

There ya go, according to the US the move is not about sovereignty, or oil rights, or the poor Filipinos, it's about freedom of navigation and overflight.

So maybe it's time for you to move on to a new topic since you don't know what it is your talking about. :)
YOU are the one who keeps saying we can't trust our government,
and then YOU quote their OFFICIAL STATEMENT as being all-definitive.

You constantly contradict yourself.
You must be a liberal.

What, would you rather I just make stuff up instead of quoting what they actually said? LOL!

I don't trust men in general because I know what spirit is presently at work in them as is also in the world as written. Also it is written cursed is he who puts his trust in men, and he who makes flesh his strength. So I have my reasons, not to mention the governments past history of lies and deceit so as not to trust what they say as completely accurate or true.

And I'm not a liberal, I'm a Christian. :)

A. You say our government lies and deceives.

B.
Then, when you are trying to win a point in an argument,
you quote the government's official statement, and treat this statement as if it's gospel truth...
because it supports your case.

This is called contradicting yourself.

It's also quite disingenuous and deceptive.

InSpiritInTruth,

Seriously, are you POSITIVE you're not a liberal?
This contradiction malady is usually a hallmark of liberalism.
Are you sure you haven't supported abortion, gay marriage, or higher textual criticism lately?

If you're a closet liberal, I promise we won't turn our backs on you...
we'll get you help.

I'm actually surprised he waded into the news forum. Usually he is condemning people to hell over in the BDF.

Correlation is not causation.

If there's a righteous who judge sentences a murderer to capital punishment rightfully so, supported well with evidence... that does not make his good judgment wrong if one person in to process of making this sentence possible has evil intentions. The evil intentions may be that this person has a sick joy in seeing anyone die. This person had influence and power to make the murderer be executed in capital punishment. The issue of this individual is still wrong by the way... but I will not stop a murderer from being executed because of his evil intentions.

What objectively should have happened... happened. God Bless

All governments lie and deceive, nothing new there. And I'm not trying to win anything by quoting what the US government actually said concerning this incident, unlike you who said it is about the poor Filipinos, which they did not say in the article.

So whose being deceptive? :)

I see you and Sirk have a lot in common, false accusations. :)
