Full background checks are required in all the states i've lived in. The only way you can walk in a store or how about a reputable store and buy a gun and take home right then is if like me you have your concealed weapons permit. Hence forth you have had full extensive back ground done. Otherwise a back ground check is done...you wait 3 business days and if you are approved you get your gun.
Every state does background checks on firearms purchases, it's federal law. The only difference between states is that some do instant background checks such as here in Colorado (you may have to wait an hour or two if the system is busy), others (by state law) have a mandated waiting period (usually only for handguns) in addition to the background check.

Currently, federal law only covers firearms purchases made from a licensed firearms dealer although some states require that ALL firearms purchases even between private parties be transacted through a licensed firearms dealer to close up the gaps.

Has anyone heard anything about this? I don't want to put the link here yet, because not sure about the site yet.

The Federal Security Services (FSB) is reporting today that an American black-Islamist terror suspect, who yesterday committed an act of mass murder in the State of Oregon (United States), had been included on a list of 87,000 “known/suspected” Islamic terrorists that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) refused last month to accept from the Federation due to its not being “politically viable in the present atmosphere”.

According to this report, the black-Islamist terrorist who committed this act of terror, Chris Harper Mercer, had previously been indentified by electronic intelligence specialists within the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) as being an Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) adherent after he had attempted to gain passage to Syria via Turkey during the first week of September, 2015.

Cue the liberals to trot out the anti-gun rhetoric. The day they can prove the gun planned the shooting, they'll have a point. Until then, put a sock in it.
LOL! Real argued logical viewpoint! :p

(Hint: sarcastic remark)

YOu can do all the background checks you like, there is no check available to see what mental state a person will be like in future.

Way I see it there is no middle ground, you either do what we have done in UK by banning ownership of all handguns and semi-automatics and just about everything else other than low calibre rifle and shot guns.

Alternativly you make it law that everyone can carry a gun and are allowed to shoot anyone in self defence , or defence of others.

Annual license renewals would go some way to solving the first problem.

Not if you're buying the guns online, which about 40% of guns are.

Yeah that is why two were shot outside rhe Parametta Police station yesterday in Australia...I have been there 5 times since November..spent three months there and there were shootings almost every day...so...it is bs that gun control and confiscation stops shootings as the criminals will always get guns....now..if someone in Sydney would have been legally packing the terrorist who took over the Lindt Cafe would have been dealt with without the cops having had to shoot the place up which resulted in even more deaths of innocents!
Can't remember the last time there was a mass shooting in the UK or Ireland, tbh. And as I pointed out earlier, our violent crime rates are way below the US's in reality. We have a far broader definition of "violent crime", but last UK census reported that just over 50% of violent crime victims weren't actually physically harmed. Violent crime here could be pinching a woman's bum, which we term as common assault.

If you really look at it, you're nearly 30 times as likely to be shot dead in the US, nearly three times as likely th be raped (not counting prison rape, which isn't a thing here. If you count, it, the likelihood of rape in the US is way, way higher). You're just as likely to be stabbed, robbed, or burgled in each country, but in the US, you're several times more likely to be a victim of car theft.

There's this myth that violent crime is worse in the UK, but it just isn't. I can't even remember the last time a cop was shot here, or that a cop had to shoot someone else. Most police in the UK don't even carry guns.

It is my understanding that the murder rate in the UK has been higher every year except one, since they banned guns.

I cant think of any American that would want to live in the UK? We are great because we are free...we are free because we are armed just as our constitution prescribed.

Obama is yapping about Gun Control, I had a chuckle over this...

Limbaugh on Obama's Call For Gun Control: He 'Just Cleared The Decks For Iran To Get A Freaking Nuclear Weapon' | The Daily Caller

"Obama embarrassed for his country? Wants more gun control? The guy just cleared the decks for Iran to get a freaking nuclear weapon and he’s embarrassed of this country?"-Rush

Yea give Iran a nuke and take away the American peoples rights to own guns..... This Obama guy should be impeached.

I have heard that is true. What a testimony to our Lord from these people. God can use tragedy to bring others to the saving Grace of His precious Son.
I got home from school and immediately turned on the news and the Portland news channel was interviewing this one student that heard most of what was going on because she was in the classroom next door. Anyway, they kept complimenting her on how eloquent she was and she said that God can turn this horrible tragedy into something positive as he always does. Our faith in God can get us through anything no matter how big it may be.
I know yesterday they released the names of the deceased, vehicles and most of the belongings on campus.

I attend college about two hours north of where the shooting occurred and I checked my email last night to get my reading assignment for Tuesday and we have counselling available for students who need it because of this. I don't know what to expect next week whether we have a lock down drill or what because neither the staff or students know what to do in case of an incident like this.

He had mental illness and his father is Anglo Saxon and his mother is Asia or Spanish! Racism is dangerous in any form. Spreads hatred like cancer. Where did you get your evidence or information!?!

The names of the victims were released last night:

Lucero Alcaraz, 19, Roseburg
Quinn Glen Cooper, 18, Roseburg
Kim Saltmarsh Dietz, 59, Roseburg
Lucas Eibel, 18, Roseburg
Lawrence Levine, 67, Glide, Oregon, the writing class instructor
Jason Dale Johnson, age unavailable, Winston, Oregon
Rebecka Ann Carnes, 18, Myrtle Creek, Oregon
Sarena Dawn Moore, 44, Myrtle Creek
Treven Taylor Anspach, 20, Sutherlin, Oregon

Notice the number of non-traditional students, older adults who were returning to school to improve their minds, perhaps their incomes, but more likely to pursue their dreams. May all victims' names be remembered forever. May most people never know the name of the shooter. May God's blessed healing come over Roseburg and the surrounding communities, may He wipe their tears and comfort their souls.

I have a feeling after all this pans out we are going to find Islam... but the media agenda is to keep it hidden in some way?

Islam is not a race, so the charge of racism is silly.

Already starting to happen. On MySpace:

He has just two friends — a girl and a jihadi. Check out the terror sympathizer’s page praising:
“The brave Mujahideen heroes”
“The Mujahideen freedom fighters of Palestine. My brothers and sisters keep on doing your thing. Allahu Akbar.”
“my brave soldiers keep on fighting for the liberation of Palestine against Israel. f*ck Israel. Kill the Jews. jews are the only infidels.”
“The Quran ….. holy book of muslims”

Not sure why the race should matter but since it is for some people let's at least get the facts straight. His mother was BLACK, his father white.

Laurel Harper was a recipient of the Civic Recognition Award in Torrence the award is given to those recognized for their acts of kindness, receiving an award is an affirmation of the positive impact one’s actions can have.

Laurel Harper was the second-oldest of four sisters raised in Torrance, her sister Maribeth Harper is an attorney in San Francisco. (photo above)

Not positive he was a Muslim or not but let's put it this way, if the shooter had singled out Muslims as his victims instead of Christians, there would have been such an uproar especially in the media that Obama would announce mandatory 'sensitivity training' for all schools concerning Islam.
