Vast replica recreates prehistoric Chauvet cave - BBC News

In the Ardeche gorge in southern France lies one of the most important prehistoric sites ever discovered.
It's locked away behind a thick metal door, hidden halfway up a towering limestone cliff-face.
Few people have ever been allowed inside, but BBC Newsnight has been granted rare access by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

NOt allowing access sparks many rumours that it contains paintings which contradict evolution, showing men hunting dinosaurs etc.

There's plenty of ancient artwork displaying man with dinosaurs and other creatures that no longer exist. So it ain't skin off our backs if this one cave is kept sealed. I think it is fair for them to keep this cave sealed from the public due to the fragility of the artwork therein. Besides, BBC got access and is cool enough to share their finds. Even if the article is nuanced, at least they shared the pictures with us to make up our own minds and conclusions.
