Zimmerman Trial....divisive or definitive?

the zimmerman trial is long over.
it was divisive and still is.
i just wondered if this sort of media manipulation of racial tensions is going to be definitive of american daily life.
maybe i missed 600+ posts where it was resolved.

can i get a summary?
I think people largely came to the conclusion it was a "both and" situation.

Like Marbury v. Madison, but less consequential. :p

I think the Zimmerman trial defined the racial hatreds in this country.

Liberals are racist.

The liberal news agencies are racist.

Without racism liberal politicians cannot obtain or hold power/get elected.

Our president, either purposely tried to influence an ongoing trial with divisive remarks, something a president should never do, or is ignorant of the responsibilities of his office. I think, this trial proved both are true.

This trial has proved, without question the ethnic group with institutionalized racism is not the white people, but black. From supporting a racist presidential candidate ( 95% of african americans voted for a president who sat under Rev Wright who started his religious career with Farakan and preaches the racist Black liberation Theology, who sat under this ''pastor'' for 20 yrs ) to portraying Martin as some 12 yr old in a white pristine hoodie, some innocent going to the store for candy. Too bad what Martin bought at the store was two parts of an intoxicant that was in his liver and brain. An intoxicant that brings forth violent tendencies.

This trial is very definitive.

All you have to do is look at Trudes posts.

Enlightening I think.

All true and while ignoring the extensive white slavery to the New World. Just Irish enslavement fills old history books. James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World with his Proclamation of 1625 requiring Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat.

At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves. Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.

From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well.

During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.

Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They’ll come up with terms like “Indentured Servants” to describe what occurred to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.

As an example, the African slave trade was just beginning during this same period. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to purchase, were often treated far better than their Irish counterparts.

African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling).

If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African. The English masters quickly began breeding the Irish women for both their own personal pleasure and for greater profit. Children of slaves were themselves slaves, which increased the size of the master’s free workforce. Even if an Irish woman somehow obtained her freedom, her kids would remain slaves of her master. Thus, Irish moms, even with this new found emancipation, would seldom abandon their kids and would remain in servitude.

In time, the English thought of a better way to use these women (in many cases, girls as young as 12) to increase their market share: The settlers began to breed Irish women and girls with African men to produce slaves with a distinct complexion. These new “mulatto” slaves brought a higher price than Irish livestock and, likewise, enabled the settlers to save money rather than purchase new African slaves. This practice of interbreeding Irish females with African men went on for several decades and was so widespread that, in 1681, legislation was passed “forbidding the practice of mating Irish slave women to African slave men for the purpose of producing slaves for sale.” In short, it was stopped only because it interfered with the profits of a large slave transport company.

England continued to ship tens of thousands of Irish slaves for more than a century. Records state that, after the 1798 Irish Rebellion, thousands of Irish slaves were sold to both America and Australia. There were horrible abuses of both African and Irish captives. One British ship even dumped 1,302 slaves into the Atlantic Ocean so that the crew would have plenty of food to eat.

There is little question that the Irish experienced the horrors of slavery as much (if not more in the 17th Century) as the Africans did. There is, also, very little question that those brown, tanned faces you witness in your travels to the West Indies are very likely a combination of African and Irish ancestry. In 1839, Britain finally decided on it’s own to end it’s participation in Satan’s highway to hell and stopped transporting slaves. While their decision did not stop pirates from doing what they desired, the new law slowly concluded THIS chapter of nightmarish Irish misery.

If anyone, black or white, believes that slavery was only an African experience, then they’ve got it completely wrong.

White slavery is a subject worth remembering, not erasing from our memories, because it brings white and black together in one accord against human injustice to either white or black.

But what the liberals that control public education and about 70% of the mainstream media have done is erase all of the truth that doesn't fit their perpetrator/victim "progressive" ideological liberal model. Whites are evil and everyone else is a victim which is an absurd, false, unhistorical and presently observable lie.

The truth is that there's plenty of blame to go around, past and present, and we need to be facing the whole truth together not parsing it to fit an "us versus them" mentality with us being innocent victims and them being evil racist perpetrators unless they agree they are evil perpetrators.

Well guess what, the truth is that I'm not personally an evil perpetrator of anything past or present and my ancestors to this country were white slaves. I'm not a liar so I'm not going to pretend otherwise. I am a Christian so I'm going to continue loving those who act with great immaturity, slander me for being honest, and cut off communications because they can't handle the truth. That's THEIR choice to behave that way. I'm not going to act likewise.

NOW THAT SAID SEE MY NEXT POST!

You need to understand SonInMe that you're doing the same thing only as the other side of the coin. You've been completely unempathetic in any observable way so far in this discussion with regards to the suffering of the black American experience.

Yes, whites and blacks were both slaves but when slavery was abolished the promise of equality for black Americans did NOT come to fruition as promised and they were relegated to a second class existence from December 6, 1865 (e.g. the date the Thirteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was ratified officially abolishing slavery in the U.S.) to the late 1960s when Jim Crow laws, housing covenants, anti-miscegenation laws, etc... FINALLY ended.

For just over a hundred years from the abolishment of slavery in the U.S., black Americans were heavily discriminated against by whites using the force of government. It's a fact and there's no getting around a fact.

What that means today is that people's great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, sisters, brothers, uncles, and aunts ALIVE TODAY spent some part of their life being systematically and officially discriminated against on a personal level, on a political level, on an economic level, etc... SOLELY because they were black.

This is a good measure of the reason for the irrational behavior. From their ridiculous assertion that Trayvon Martin was an innocent child murdered in cold blood by a white racist to their blanket denial of the obvious serious violence problem amongst black males to calling everyone a racist that engages in them in honest discussion to <fill in the blank>, etc... etc... etc...

And you never even cared enough to notice. See the problem?

You want to talk about Republicans? I've got a lot of very negative facts to share about what Republicans did to the U.S. economy. You're in as great denial of that issue as liberals are about their own. There's plenty of blame to go around.

Without both LOVE and TRUTH, it's never going to resolve.

One coin, two sides. Each side is half the problem. Each side falsely believes they are 100% right and the other side is 100% wrong. Until this is somehow fixed, we will remain two nations in one country behaving badly toward each other at war politically (and otherwise) with nothing being resolved.

Zimmerman case objectively

When considering any conclusions about anything including this Zimmerman case, it is only right to remove any prejudice. I have no idea why the forum went off tangentially into the historicity of race. The facts involve George Zimmerman, an Hispanic patrol police officer, and Trayvon Martin, a, black,17 year old young man. Zimmerman shot Martin in what was assumed self defence based on his state's laws.

Zimmerman, it turns out, was surveilling Martin in what were assumed to be suspicious circumstances. It appears Martin was watching homes in the neighbourhood as though he intended to break-in and enter (e.g. burglary). Said officer was possibly acting in the course of his reasonable duties as a police officer. Alternatively, if he were on a day-off but still present on the scene, he would likely not be classed as on duty. This could have affected the trial as an on duty police officer has the right to defend himself from a would-be burglar. Moreover, it's normal for an officer to arrest individuals for acting suspiciously. If he were not on duty it's likely there would be no defence. It also transpires that it is was a dark and rainy night when the incident occurred. The effect obviously is that visibility for Zimmerman is hampered.

However, Zimmerman also used the words 'they' always get away with this', or verbal speech to that effect. Also the young black man who was shot was by an Hispanic policeman. Racial prejudice will be considered. The first problem with this apparent racism is that 'they' can be taken one of two ways, 'they' could be a racist comment to do with back guys, and the other possibility, they could refer to potential burglars, whom have not yet proceeded to break-in to family homes but could get off on that technicality. The likelihood on the these facts is that there is no racial prejudice. An Hispanic community usually suffers racial prejudice, as do the black communities. I think these cancel each other out. If Zimmerman were a white gentleman it may have been a racial matter.

i dunno.
if it's determined to be manslaughter or murder or first degree murder - that's what it is.
end of story.

if its self defense, that what it is.
end of story.

every murder has hatred or whatever in it.

what's with the straining at every nuance to see:

1) how much hate or bias the murderer "feels"
2) how much or how little pigment the victim's skin has in it.

it's just murder, or it isn't.

....

i though justice was supposed to be blind...in this regard.

I came back just to have the last say. I am neither republican or democrat. I do not care about politics. I personally believe they are all working together. So, you a racist person cannot put me into any category. You are the biggest racist here, both you and your supporters. You and your supporters are children of Baal.

If I were racist I would not have dated white men and would not add white people from this chat forum to my friendliest. I am attracted to all men (black, white, Asian, Indian, Spanish etc.) except the racist ones like you. I have white girlfriends at my church and we go out together. Yes we do not talk about politics or controversial topics. We just leave that alone. We talk about what interest us---------God, men, relationships, children, dating, clothes, hairstyles, perfume, sex, under-wears etc.

No, I do not agree with a black person killing a white person. I am apart of the human race and there is no way I would condone hate or killing of an innocent person. If I saw a black person killing a black person I would intervene. If I saw a black person killing a white person I would intervene. If I saw a white person killing a black person I would intervene. But I am afraid to have children partly because you evil people exist. Anyone who kill my child (regardless of race) only God alone can save that person.

My husband told me to stay away from racist people like you, so I hope to not return.

Also, I do not need the government to help me with anything. I have two degrees and I work hard. I was working on my third degree when I decided to take a break. My husband is a hard working professional man himself. I don't wait for help, I want to be the one to help others. I love all children regardless of race and hope that I will be of help to many. I will stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Please do not talk like you know me because you do not.

I'm glad you came back Trudes.

New information and the unexpected experiences of others shock our worldview at times and mine did your own but understand that it's OK.

Of course, it's obvious that you are a GOOD person with your own views, experiences, etc...

I would say the same for SonInMe who is a Christian and not an actual racist (e.g. a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another).

It's common today for liberals to use the word "racist" against people that have a different worldview, a different political belief system, a different culture/history/etc... but unless they actually are a racist it's a false accusation.

I have four degrees and numerous certifications. I grew up poor in Los Angeles but through education and hard work turned it into a success. :)

Please DO talk to me like you know me. That's how I like people to interact with me. Peace.

Also, I do not need the government to help me with anything. I have two degrees and I work hard. I was working on my third degree when I decided to take a break. The slave experience was not experienced by any living american.

The subsequent Jim Crow laws were but its been almost 50 yrs since their end.

Its not a lack of compassion. Its the white guilt I am supposed to feel and remember this, I was called a racist because I presented the facts of this case. That is an error. The reasons for the error is exactly what I was accused of.

No lack of compassion here, just the difference between reality and delusion and by the way the perfect example of the further division caused by this farce of a trial and the real reasons why Zimmerman was tried.

Zimmerman was not a police officer. He was on neighborhood watch. Voluntary I believe, to protect his neighborhood.

He did make a mistake and carried a gun, which he was not supposed to do and for which the neighborhood association was sued and lost. The thing is, if Zimmerman was not armed, he would have been dead, Martin in jail for murder...

AND NOTHING WOULD HAVE MADE THE NEWS. Happens all the time.

What was the difference? Two things. Zimmerman not being black and Martin being black, and our black president was on a anti-gun crusade.

This is why I started this thread. The idiocy of the political reasons for this trial, which never should have been, was soo apparent, it defined our president and his liberal agenda as outright racist and the worst political witch hunt of my lifetime.

It is truly amazing in 2013 such blatant hatreds are condoned and excused.

After Mr. Martin’s death, his parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, sued the association for wrongful death. The amount of the settlement was not revealed but earlier they had rejected a one million dollar settlement offer. As is customary in such settlements, the association admitted no guilt in Mr. Martin’s death and all parties are bound to confidentiality. The Orlando Sentinel obtained the portion of the settlement that was made public Friday at the Seminole County courthouse.

Anyone in the State of Florida can own a gun (after passing a background check). But, you need a concealed weapons permit to carry it with you. The concealed weapons permit also covers knives, stun guns and mace/pepper spray. George Zimmerman had applied and been approved for a concealed weapons permit before the tragic event.

Now, the racist accusation was a kneejerk reaction that the other side of the coin engages in as a matter of course. I never called you that SonInMe because I know you're not one. Yes I did call you unempathetic to an extent (e.g. not wholly of course) and I think you are but that can be fixed and I've agreed with almost all of your points regarding the other half of the coin while pointing out some of the serious problems with the half of the coin you align with.

But I won't agree with your false assertion that black Americans alive today have not encountered discrimination. I talk with them and most over the age of thirty have and almost all over the age of fifty have.

That said, I have found it near impossible to get them to see that they themselves constantly dish out discrimination to each other and non-blacks. Almost every black American that decides to integrate with the rest of American culture and live a good Christian life rejecting the anti-social violent racist urban rapper/gangster culture that permeates black Americanism gets discriminated against and called "house negro," "Uncle Tom," and all sorts of racist belittling names by other blacks.

The violence in black communities is reprehensible and black gangs literally dominate neighborhoods. They target everyone that's not them including other blacks. Mob violence against non-racist whites in public places by blacks has increased rapidly since 2000 and for no good reason. It's racist and sociopathic.

Until black America cares as much about correcting their own anti-social behavior and jettison the violent drug-oriented gangster rapper culture they created in total rebellion to God and America as the concern they showed for the Travon Martin case, they will remain an embittered dysfunctional hateful violent racist poor-performing demographic overall (minus those who choose a positive godly path for their lives of course).

The sad thing is they have to find a way to do without the SonInMe's of the world because they are entrenched in a position that's half the problem and honestly just don't care enough.

I did not say minorities do not suffer discrimination today but I will say its not institutionalized discrimination for the most part and the very few cases of modern institutionalized racism have been dealt with through the courts.

Stupid people do stupid things. That's a part of living in a free society and believe me, racism is NOT a one way street.

Stating the facts of a trial is not racism.

Using gossip and unsubstantiated positions because of race, defines racism. A judgement in ignorance. I am not racist because I repeat the facts given at trial but to claim evidences not present at trial because they are accepted in one community BECAUSE OF RACE, is.

Again, its amazing.

Zimmerman was just a coward and a violent trigger happy predator. All the so called evidence were made up. He has people in high places who helped him the whole cover up. His father is a judge, his wife and others covered up things nicely. False witnesses do not surprise me because the Holy Father Himself had many false witnesses testified against Him. It is good that Zimmerman's wife is starting to show us his true self. Too bad she did not let us see it during the trial. The coward and trigger happy Zimmerman hit his father-in-law and also wanted to "stand his ground" on his wife too as he did poor Trayvonon. She was terrified of that hot tempered trigger happy coward and now wants a divorce. It is amazing how people try to justify Zimmerman's cowardly action by saying if he had not shot Trayvon he (Zimmerman) would have died. How cowardly, a grown married man armed with a loaded stalking an unarmed teenager, kills the teenager and the murderer is celebrated. the poor boy must have felt frightened for a stranger to follow him. What a cowardly act. No if Zimmerman had not been such a looser and coward the unarmed teenager would still be have alive. He can't fight so he pull his gun and feel like such a big man. He is a big shot and a role model for stalking and hunting down a teenage, loved by his mom and dad, and killed him.

If Zimmerman had his way and the rest of the kkk family on this forum, blacks would be segregated, sitting at the back of the bus and drinking from separate water fountains and segregated in schools. Zimmerman's mistake was not carrying a gun. His mistake wad being a complete fool trying to be a cop. But when you have fools in the world who are trigger happy we are bound to have innocent people killed. A fool is a fool. May Trayvon's parents find people in in The Lord.

I am am asking the people on this forum who hates blacks and are celebrating the death of Trayvon to keep excitement down to a minimum. No Obama is not racist. But I guess because he is half black then it means bad, hence he is racist. When I listen to my grandfather and grand uncle tell me when they had to drink from the colored fountain only, I praise God it is not like that now. They told me they had to sit in the back of the bus and called "boy." My grand uncle felt completely humiliated when he accidentally went into the White's bathroom only bathroom only to hear "hey boy, get out of there". They even troll the days of lynching. I just praise God that as African Americans we do not have to go through that now. My grandfather who is alive and well still remembers it.

I didn't get to finish previous post or even to edit it. But this message is for Zimmerman. God is a loving savior. I suggest you confess your sins and admit your guilt to the victim's parents. If you don't, you can get away with your evil here on earth, but you shall not escape God's wrath. Maybe if Zimmerman realized racial segregation ended not too long ago and black suffered many injustices, just maybe his approach would have different. My grandfather remember those days very well. In fact their is a teacher in my church, who was one of 3 black students who were among the first to desegregate their school. She said she and her friends studied as if their lives depended on it so that they could give other black students hope. They pushed each other encouraged each other to never give up. They cried much and through blood sweat and Tears they all graduated.

I am grateful for the black people who suffered and fought hard so that I may be treated fairly. Some were beaten and thrown in prison, some hung, some shot, some were bitten by dogs, some had their homes burned down and watched their loved ones killed right in front of them. Some blacks don't seem to appreciate what many blacks endured just yesterday, during the 50s and 60s but I do . I am eternally grateful to God and thankful for their courage and bravery. Overall some black people, have let some of us down and contributed to a negative reputation. But on a whole, we have come along way. We experienced 400 years of slavery and are now free. We are now enjoying Matin Luther king's dream. I thank God for Dr. King, Malcolm x and other leaders along with the help of good white men and women who suffered so this dream may be possible.

Thank you God for the faithful few good white people who fought long and hard along side their black brother's and sisters. These people weren't cowards and they went a against the majority risking their lives for what they believe. They too died horrible deaths. Some were shot, some hung and beaten. Thank God for these people who did not see color but saw injustice. They were not plenty in numbers but they gave their lives fighting for racial equality. Unfortunately some are just part of the problem and never care about a solution.

Thank you Father for the faithful few. May you welcome these noble people in the kingdom of heaven as well as other heroes both known and unknown.

Zimmerman was just a coward and a violent trigger happy predator.

The problem with this statement is that there was no fact in evidence for this conclusion. Absolutely none. No facts support this.

To make statments that fly in the face of the facts and to believe it is prejudice.

What you claim you are against is exactly what you practice. This is the mindset I created this thread to expose.

Your statements prove my position, illustrate it and also promote racial tensions.
