I used to write a lot in my dark days. It was a way for me to process my emotions. The following one is a fave of mine :) there are 2 voices in this piece. the 1st one is a person who feels so broken and forgotten by surrounding people. the 2nd one is God.

Heart Strings

Silent screams
Broken dreams
It’s the song I sing

Invisible
Forgettable
Themes I always bring

Will you ever hear?
Will you ever see
The pain so severe
That you inflict on me?

The melody I sing
I sing in solitude
You never bother to listen
Because of your attitude.

Continue to be beautiful
Continue to walk away
Keep me at a distant
As my notes are in disarray.

I know who you are.
I always hear your song.
It’s time for a different one.
You’ve kept it for too long

Hush now, troubled heart.
I’ve always been here with you.
I want to make you complete.
I want to hear something new.

Sing a new song.
Bring a new melody.
Even if no one else listens,
The only audience you need is Me.

This reminded me of 19th century poets...I can no longer recollect the names of those poets, but I do believe, however, there were three sisters in England, the Brontë sisters, who were well known poets, and this made me think of them:).

Okay..in a very positive way, you've come through and voiced your past. The next poem you write, make it focused on what have you learned from this, what will you strive for the future and offer others some hope from your talent. Don't let us hang on the sadness. WE need to see and feel something positive next time. Can't wait to see the change. IF you continue to write only about pain, broken dreams, etc...you will be stuck in a rut for a long time.
