Her Prayer

Right outside the door​
A life of freedom forced to wait​
As she works through all the locks​
Longing to open the gate​
​
First the victim of hands so cruel​
Then a child torn from her heart​
A life shattered into pieces​
Forcible beginning, no place to start​
​
She wants to lay down and rest​
The baby playing in her dreams​
The darkness of a nightmare​
So much more powerful it seems​
​
Sometimes she forgets to breathe​
She no longer has a plan​
She wants to go to sleep​
Dreading to wake again​
​
Trying to have hope for tomorrow​
Please God hold back her tears​
Let her this day gain strength​
To overcome these fears.​
