R
Her Prayer
Right outside the door
A life of freedom forced to wait
As she works through all the locks
Longing to open the gate
First the victim of hands so cruel
Then a child torn from her heart
A life shattered into pieces
Forcible beginning, no place to start
She wants to lay down and rest
The baby playing in her dreams
The darkness of a nightmare
So much more powerful it seems
Sometimes she forgets to breathe
She no longer has a plan
She wants to go to sleep
Dreading to wake again
Trying to have hope for tomorrow
Please God hold back her tears
Let her this day gain strength
To overcome these fears.
