Learning to Hope

I thought hope was too emotive,
I noticed how much time it wasted,
Worse yet—when it fails, it’s corrosive,
But hope is something God created,
To be risked and to be tasted,
I put my faith in You, oh Lord,
To show my heart the unexplored.

And every man that has this hope
will purify himself as pure
as Jesus savior life in scope
and observance we walk ensured

and strengthened by his love to me
supports me from above, a rope,
the thickness ever growing, see
stronger than I am, now this hope!

Now answer every man that asks
the reason in you for this hope
and sanctify the Lord in tasks
in deeds, in kindness, love will cope

All ye who now believe in God
give evidence for your great hope
Give God all glory praise and laud
Our savior comes we'll soon elope!
