Let Me Not Offend

My God how beautiful and pure you are, magnificent in radiance on high
How is there any comparison between You and I?

In your transforming power I trust, cleanse me thoroughly within
Transform the pharisee in me to one that strikes the breast, Oh grievous my sin

How can you endure me, of your image I am only a glimmer,
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Heavenly Father, may I always in knowledge of your presence let it stay
Have mercy, though I am a shanty dwelling place for you today.

To myself I make this plea:
listen to my Master softly speaking to me

In the noise that is within, may I not over run your voice that tells of impending, lurking sin
Let me reject the thoughts that deceive and entice, with your grace I will win.

Raging passions, painful to reject, You are the Living Way
Quell the thoughts before I sin, deliver me from evil suggestions and obey.

To obey, I know of the delight,
And how extremely you love me because you give me the sight

I will make myself nothing, to You my heart bows, in You I will not give in,
I know of Your soothing, loving presence in temptation, how much greater I love you than the sin

Easy is your burden, great is your love
Power to live purely and in your image by your dove

Spirit, continue to transform me, let me not offend the One that I love most
Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts
