I volunteer at a horse rescue where I have become attached to a horse named Dawson who is now being fostered. Here is the lesson God taught me through this:

This is this horse.
His name is Dawson.
Do I love him?
Of course.

He is getting fostered.
To Virginia he goes.
I miss him already,
But this is how life flows.

Love is like a river.
It will always flow.
Sometimes love means letting go.

This poem is a reflection of your heart. You are sad to see Dawson go, yet you are hopeful that he will be okay in Virginia. I would like to read more of your poems.

Thank you. I meant to say "there" instead of "this," but I know Dawson is going to a good place because our director evaluates each and every prospective fostered/adopter before letting them have our horses.
