For thousands of years
Through their terror and fears
I have ruled over them all

Their dust he did once enliven
But in me their bitter end was given
My reign was granted by their fall

I heard the rumor
Through the silent whisper
And thought it contrived
In their delusion of despair
But now I sense it's true
The Living One has arrived
To dethrone me among the old rulers

I'm drawn to extend my rule over him
Yet I fear my inevitable doom
In the attack I'm bound to lose my sting
Making the groaning creation bloom
As the red flow turns the yoke of death
And the life-giving spring brings them new breath

His death will be mine
And will only take my all
His death will be theirs
And through their upward fall
In new life they become the heirs

Like stars they are destined to shine
And only the last defeat will be mine
Until gone I'm bound to my own reduction
Drowned in the lake of my destruction

Around me darkness closes its door
Sealing the prison of my emptiness
I will rule no more
But fade into nothingness

And in his rising
The Living One will be over all

This poem describes Christ's victory over death and how he sets us free, but it is described from the perspective of death as a personified entity, so for him the coming of Christ is terrifying news that means the end of his reign and seals his doom and destruction. I didn't come up with a nice and pithy title for this one, but at least the long and descriptive title helps in interpreting the poem.

Glad to see your poems "on the air" again.
Glad to be back. I don't think I ever consciously "left" this site, but for a while, I just didn't seem to have the time.
I think there are a couple of poems that I could expect to finish sometime in the near future, but they still need some work.
