OUT OF MIDNIGHT
When I'd almost given up,
was falling into midnight,
Jesus, you caught me.
When I was a raggedy-ann,
limp, tossed aside
on the scrap heap of life,
Jesus you picked me up.
So now I stand,
not leaning
on an old wooden tree
as my crutch
but as my backbone.
