"melita, have your BBQ! we'll celebrate your wedding however you wanna!" hahaha

If a moneymoon lasted more than a decade, probably, the wedding cost worths of its price.

I can't believe how much weddings cost nowadays to be honest what I want is simple and tasteful and it is not supposed to be how much money you spend, but it is about coming together in the presence of God to be man and wife.

We eloped for our wedding. I did make a nice dress, and the cake. I feel like we kind of missed something

When two of my children got married, they had middle sized weddings. They invited all their friends and relatives. My son was married at a yacht club, the food and view were wonderful. He enjoyed being with his friends, spent the night making rounds to talk with everyone. I had a wonderful mother-son dance with him. Oh yes, I left my husband in ICU, with my parents taking turns caring for him. That was the down side of that wonderful wedding.

My daughter had the most beautiful gown, and was married in this wonderful room in an old CP hotel. Her pastor was fabulous, it was a very spirit filled wedding. She got married in Feb. when it was -35 C. For her wedding pictures, they went on an outdoor rink, and her wrap and flowers were purple. She was featured in a number of bridal magazines. Oh, she was a figure skater, which is why the ice rink. The last pics taken that day have some pretty rosy cheeks with her and her husband.

My oldest was married on a pond, my memory is not being able to walk, and being eaten alive by mosquitoes in Yellowknife, NWT. It was summer, so warm. Sadly, he is just divorcing his wife after 15 years. My youngest son eloped when he was playing hockey in Utah. They rode the gondola to the top of a ski slope, and they have a pic of him with a black eye (the ECHL) and her looking lovely. I'm very, very sad they did not have a wedding. But they bought a house with the money they saved, so in the long run, a good investment.

I love weddings! I wonder if I will make it to the weddings of my grandchildren? My father was at my daughter's, and passed away by the end of the year. I guess it will depend upon how young they are when they get married.

I think we had about 100 people at our wedding. It was a traditional wedding. We paid for it ourselves, I was 29 and he was 30, plus I think expecting your parents to dish out cash for a wedding isn't cool.

I am so groggy right now I actually read that as "we had about 1000 people at our wedding... I was 9 and he was 30"

I got married 14 years ago on the beach in Florida in what is known as "Hurricane Alley".

It turned out to be prophetic (figuratively speaking)...

I'll add to this interesting story.

We had a 1000 people at our wedding. I was 9 and he was 30. It was Russia during the cold war. My dowry was a milking heifer, 2 sows, 2 chickens a rooster, 2 rubles and some propaganda books.

My now late husband Lyev was a farmer, but secretly a Russian spy. The farm was a cover up. I was just a simple farm girl. I had my first child, Oleg a boy at the age of 13, those years before the babies were wonderful. Lyev and I live a simple farm life or so I thought.

As soon as Oleg was born Lyev spent less time at home and more time at the bar. I would find bottles of potato vodka hidden in the barn. They had lipstick stains on the rim, I knew that hussy Bepa was moving in. I finally put my big Russian farm boot down and told Lyev if the affair continued I would have no choice but to take my dowry and son and leave.

Continue????

at church, whenever an engagement is announced, people then say to the couple "hey i wanna help with this. i'll donate to pay for this or for that." i think it's pretty cool. idk if it's a common thing as far as other places.

Yeah, I can see where having a Bride there might help.......... :) If you don't find one before me, I'll let you stand in for me while I'm out on the Lake fishing............uh, and can you also do me a favor and take care of that "'till death us do part" thingy? Gee, that would be swell of you! :)
