Roh your school stories reminded me of a time I was in High school. i lived a few minutes walk from the school so I'd go home for a quick lunch, leave my books then head back later for whatever sport activity was on that afternoon. Now at that time our gate was not to high probably 1,4 metres or so. I would run back to school so i'd get back in time for what was mostly basketball practice. Now in my enthusiasm I would often run out of the back door down the driveway and jump over the gate kinda like clearing a hurdle but not as smoothly. Then I'd continue my jog down the road back to the school grounds. (some of you have already started laughing....shush). Thinking back it was a rather stupid and unnecessary thing to do, but as you all know "boys will be boys."

One day I was doing my thing, running down the driveway and prepared to launch myself over the gate as usual, but it appears the gate muttered "Uh uh, not today!" Someone (I assume my brother) had not closed the latch on the gate, so the gate was in position but not secured. The wind must have picked up as I was leaving my...ummm...runway because the gate moved about a couple of inches outward and away from me! So there I was in the air and the gate has moved and I am thinking "Oh crap!" My right leg somehow managed to find its way over but my trailing leg didn't quite make it getting caught in the fancy wrought iron decorative thingy at the top. The leg managed to free itself but not before trajectory changed from a hurdle like clearance to a dive that would have made Micheal Phelps green with envy. Only Phelps would have been relieved that it wasnt him in the air that day (well he wasn't born yet but still...Lord! I just carbon dated myself!) as there was no water underneath. So there I am in the air about to hit the tarmac really hard when, out of the corner of my eye I noticed this girl I absolutely adored standing at her gate across the street. as I hit the ground I remember longing for the tarmac to open up and just swallow me whole. But it didn't happen. She's married with a family but she has never let me forget that day!
