OK, so I did this thread a few months ago...........but I can't find it to bump, and well it's summertime which doesn't always make this issue easier. For both genders I guess!!! It's something I'm battling, so like to share some of the tactics I believe the Lord gave me.

When I see an attractive woman (ladies, feel free to use this too....), I like to thank God for their beauty. That they show God's image in a unique way.........they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that God would bless and save them! There's more you can say of course, let the Spirit lead!

It's better to get our thoughts stuck in prayer rather than lust! Has taken the sting out of it for me! Have a blessed summer brothers and sisters :)

It's still a battle, but not as intense as a few years ago! :) there's hope for everyone, the Spirit of the living God inside all of us believers! He's awesome at helping us overcome :D

Lust is your own primal life force seeking expression through you. You cannot repress it, break it - for to do so is to break a part of you. To fight it using a negating repressing force is to create dichotomy within yourself; and you will start seeing a demon around every corner trying to 'seduce you'...

The only way it can be 'overcome' for want of better words, is to:

1. See it in its right perspective
2. Elevate your thinking and desires into the realms of Light wherein is God
3. Ask Him to elevate your thinking and desires for you, until such a time where you can express them with someone appropriate
4. Sublimate them into the spiritual taking into account the above points by intent and understanding the 'inner-science'
5. Using various methods on direction and control where an integration of that life-force occurs with the spiritual part of you - and transmutes into inner Light and power

hey thank you for that point about lust, i looked up the definition and it's to have strong sexual desires for somebody in today's context. In the original Greek, the word for lust could also be used in a positive, not only negative way. So some of the meaning has been lost in translation, as it were, if I could change the title of the thread I would.

Positively
Luke 22:15
And [SUP]2532[/SUP] he said [SUP]2036[/SUP] unto [SUP]4314[/SUP] them [SUP]846[/SUP], With desire [SUP]1939[/SUP] I have desired[SUP]1937[/SUP] to eat [SUP]5315[/SUP] this [SUP]5124[/SUP] passover [SUP]3957[/SUP] with [SUP]3326[/SUP] you [SUP]5216[/SUP]before [SUP]4253[/SUP] I [SUP]3165[/SUP] suffer [SUP]3958[/SUP] :

Negatively
Matt 5:28
But [SUP]1161[/SUP] I [SUP]1473[/SUP] say [SUP]3004[/SUP] unto you [SUP]5213[/SUP], That [SUP]3754[/SUP] whosoever [SUP]3956[/SUP]looketh [SUP]991[/SUP] on a woman [SUP]1135[/SUP] to [SUP]4314[/SUP] lust after[SUP]1937[/SUP] her [SUP]846[/SUP] hath committed adultery [SUP]3431[/SUP] with her [SUP]846[/SUP] already [SUP]2235[/SUP] in [SUP]1722[/SUP] his [SUP]846[/SUP]heart [SUP]2588[/SUP].

However the golden rule for not lusting in a wrong way, is to walk in the Spirit! He know's best how to help us, maybe we need to forgive, maybe we need delivering from a demonic influence etc etc. We're each unique people, with unique histories. God knows best!

How to walk in the Spirit, well a good place to start is to desire to do so. I admit I can't do this life by myself, I need Him!!!!! LORD PLEASE HELP is a good prayer

Hey thar ... keep in mind that 'adultery' in Matt 5:28 (and other verses) is only when there is intrusion in the sanctity of marriage involving porneia (one of the Greek words for 'fornication' - there are about 4 - 5 - much is lost with the 'one English word' for 5 greek words) ... adultery is NOT when you look at a single woman and vice versa with 'desire'..., otherwise - there would be no attraction - leading to marriage; would there --- !!! :D

hey thanks for that, made me think...........I don't know for sure, I'm personally not comfortable when my thoughts of a married or unmarried woman go to having sex.

I think there are healthy, 'they look great, and I would like to have a relationship with them' thoughts. Like you say, it's good to have sexual attraction for a marriage relationship!
At times though my thoughts have gone beyond, which doesn't feel right

For sure, if you can! I found myself in trains in Japan, with lots of very attractive women around......so this helped me. Looking out of the window or at something else is also an option :)
